"Sunday evening in Avignon in November - most Restaurants are closed. By chance we fancy having a glas of wine at AOC84 before going to find a decent place to dine. But we realised: the place we are looking for is right here. We enjoyed a delicous meal off the beaten track, prepared by the young female chef. The fried mozzarella with "dog's sauce" (spicy!) as entrée, the freshly sliced tartare, the "disturbed" lemon cake for dessert were just unique. A good kitchen off the beaten track and a good selection of wines at reasonable prices. The Chateauneuf du Pape 2009 was superb."

Good and well served... a little noisy terrace because of traffic.

We enjoyed creamy soup and mushroom risotto starters. Pork chop and chicken main course. Lemon and chocolate desserts. Great local cotes du Rhone wine too. Excellent meal.

We had lunch here yesterday, two families, 8 people in total and it was brilliant. The food is excellent, the setting is beautiful and the staff are super friendly and helpful and funny. Thoroughly recommended!! Ver carta

Smelled of sewer at the entrance and a bunch of drunken Roms were quarrelling 20m away. 2 tables decided to leave which is not usual. Waitress was a bit exuberant but efficient while 2 guys who I guess should have been helping were watching while smoking a cigarette.

Visited this restaurant after seeing recommendations on here. It didn't disappoint. The host was lovely and helpful. Varied menu with lots to choose from. Our meals were all fantastic - lots of flavour. The host helped us to choose a local wine which we enjoyed very much. Well priced and would definitely visit again.

AOC is a great wine bar, where one can choose a glass or bottle of wine and then something small or large to eat. We had a few glasses to sample local wines along with a baked cheese, a wonderful combination to warm up on a cold January night. The owner is enthusiastic about his wines and made sure we had a great time : if you don't like the wine, no worries, try another one. And if you like it, you can buy a bottle for home! Me and my wife wanted an authentic French meal in a casual setting and AOC did not disappoint. It has a good wine list (by bottle and glass) that showcases wine of the Cotes Du Rhone area, especially southern Rhone at great prices. The food was also great including the beef tartar and charcuterie/chess plate. For a bottle of wine, two entrees, two appetizers it only cost around $85 which we thought was a great deal. Also the owner was there who spoke perfect English and couldn't be more welcoming. Highly recommend.

We had a great meal at AOC, which we enjoyed so much we ended up eating there 2 of our 3 dinners in Avignon. They take pride in their beef, and it was a memorable spot to try steak tartare in France. Their other dishes didn't disappoint, either, and all for great value. A wonderful, diverse wine list offering a breadth of area selections, and the owner steered us both nights to wines which were from unusual appellations that we've searched for back home. Great ambiance, whether in the cozy interior or outside on a lovely evening. A winner on our trip!

"I'm a regular here, and I'm not the only one lol! This place is always packed, it's both a locals haunt and a place where well-advised tourists end up. I meet my friends here, I meet my colleagues here, I meet half the town here...And it draws out the locals every evening with good reasons! So, first off: Convenience. Just on the bank of the river, this place has it's own parking.Next, atmosphere: Clean shabby chic orientated decor, open central kitchen, usually pretty crowded, Italian chef.... This place has got the atmosphere where it should be for modern tasty Italian cuisine.Service: populated by hipster and punkette style waiters and waitresses, they might not be warm nor welcoming, but they polite and competent. The service is prompt and the wine suggestions correct.Food: my FAVOURITE part! I love Italian, and I just appreciate a place that does it right so much! Simple, clean, modern and tasty!Their pizzas are beyond a doubt the best in the region, special mention for the Bianca and the Cosi. Their pasta is mouth watering. But I always find the best on their menu to be their dish of the day (for example duck filet with apricots, tuna steak with Italian sauce, roast filet mignon...) and their veal schnitzel. In fact I am a regular to this place almost solely because of their veal schnitzel. Just gorgeous!Oh and their desserts.... Are just delicious, special mention for the raspberry-lemon-white chocolate parfait!Once again, this is not a budget eat-all-you-can low end pizzeria. The prices are midrange. But the cuisine is authentic and impeccable, the setting very pleasant, and it is definitely a place you will come back to after trying it once."
