This was my first visit back to the restaurant in a while, and I am pleased to say that both the service and food were just as good as I remember. The service was exceptional, with a staff that was efficient and friendly. I will definitely be returning in the future.

The food was absolutely amazing! Huge portions, cooked perfectly. Good quality ingredients- the sourdough toast and butter was delicious. Omlette and eggs all cooked perfectly. The smoothie could have been better as i felt like it was just a mixture of carton fruit juices. Service fast and attentive but honestly the food was 10/10 so so nice will definitely be back.

The best evening thanks to Orfhlaith, I mentioned in passing that it was my colleagues birthday and they went above and beyond to bring a beautiful desert, a sparkler candle and to sing all arranged by Orfhlaith! I have never felt better looked after or had better service than I had tonight from the bottom of our hearts thank you for making the evening so perfect. I will definitely be coming back solely because of Orfhlaith thank you so so much! Ver carta

We've been regulars here for some years and always enjoyed it. But not today. I'm very happy to spend £50 for breakfast for two when it's decent food. Today this happened: 1. my latte was cold (you replaced it) 2. my full English breakfast was lukewarm with hard, poached eggs, undercooked bacon (I had specifically requested well done) and cold toast. Both had clearly been under prepared and then sat around for a while before being brought to the table. If I wanted a cold, poorly prepared breakfast I could have gone to Weather spoons and saved £30. Shame on you. That was terrible and we won't return.

We were unlucky! Waited over 25 minutes for food and when it arrived, the black pudding and scallop toastie was soggy and inedible, girella dish luke warm and pie very dry. The dishes had obviously been hanging around! It appears as one was a starter, the new waiter hadn’t put it through properly, making the birthday treat for my elderly mother a poor experience on an otherwise beautiful day. The ambience in the restaurant was great, staff friendly and we were compensated with bread and olives and a 25% discount off the bill, but we left with a hungry mother and a memory of the restaurant as ‘disappointing’.

We happened to walk past on the way to the Soho Theatre and liked the look of the menu. We didn't want a big meal so ordered Manchego Serrano croquettes, Fried lasagne Truffle Chicken tacos to share along with a couple of Slow Sherry Wobbler cocktails. Food drinks arrived quickly. The lasagne could have been warmer and the tacos were a little flavourless but the croquettes were absolutely spot on. We followed this up with a shared dessert plate and a couple of glasses of wine.. Both were glorious! Service was attentive, our water glasses were topped up regularly and we didn't feel either abandoned or rushed. If we are in the neighbourhood again we will definately come and try the breakfast. This restaurant in Soho has been around for a long time, but I had only been to the smaller location on Compton Street before. This location stays open late, making it a convenient spot for a relaxed dinner after a theatre show. I had the best starter I've had all year - Hot smoked salmon, which was better than what I've had at many other restaurants. The main course of Olive brine chicken and chicory was also delicious. What really stood out was the portion size, as it was much more generous than what I have experienced at other places. This made it great value for money. The staff were friendly, even though the restaurant was noisy, and the service was good. They also had a nice selection...

The food at this restaurant was delicious, but the service was extremely disappointing. We were seated promptly and given menus, but we received no explanation of the specials or drink options. We were then left alone while another table near us received a thorough explanation of the menu and prompt service. We had to flag down our server to get any attention. It turns out our server was on a break when we were seated, which was inconvenient for us. Despite the delay, we eventually received our food, which was excellent. However, when we asked for condiments, they never arrived. We were also asked if we wanted another drink after we had finished our meal, which we declined as it was too late...

For many years Balans has always been my go to restaurant in Soho one could always be guaranteed of a good standard of just nice food. In all the years I have been going here (and that has been since they opened their restaurant in Soho) I have never had a bad meal or anything other than great service. Well last night I was rather disappointed to start the service was dreadful. The restaurant was by no means full and only had 3 waiting staff this included what could have been a manager (however this was not clear).
