"We initially had a great impression of this charming hotel. We enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea before checking in, which was fresh and of great quality. The room was decent, although the sloped ceilings made it a bit challenging for me as a 6ft tall person to maneuver around the bed. Despite the out-of-order lift, our second-story room was generally fine. The bathroom was outdated with a tricky shower, making it difficult to adjust the temperature and the water pressure was lackluster. Unfortunately, breakfast was a letdown compared to the excellent afternoon tea we had the day before. There was a limited selection (no potato option and no pancakes as advertised). My wife and I opted for poached eggs since the scrambled eggs looked unappetizing, but we only received one each after a 15-minute wait. The bacon was fatty, sausages weren't good, and the beans were lukewarm at best. The room felt dark, but the glasses for fruit juice were a good size. The pool was also underwhelming, with no changing room and a dark atmosphere with insufficient warmth. The service at the bar was slow, and we had to seek assistance from the restaurant staff at the other end of the hotel. Drinks were pricey. Although the staff were friendly and welcoming, we have decided not to stay at this hotel again. In summary, Rooms: 3, Service: 4, Location: 4. Hotel highlights: Quiet location."

Went here for a wedding. Rooms, bed and pillows very comfortable but cleanliness lacking. Bathroom had lots of black mould around bath, one light not working and duvet cover had hole in it. Chairs in restaurant badly stained and they had no tomato sauce ! Also breakfast was barley warm.Carpets also in need of good clean. Beautiful location and wedding was beautifully done. Just these few things needed addressing Rooms: 3 Service: 3 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view

Beautiful property and common areas, restaurant was better than reviews had lead me to expect with two very decent meals on both nights, service is swift but a little untrained but that's fine for a relaxed weekend. Brilliant location eady parking. Only downside was the tired room, but at £84 for a single including a hearty breakfast is better than anywhere around. Perfect base for the Garmin Ride Out. Rooms: Average. Rooms: 3 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet

Lovely location and good food,if only it was hot. Service was poor. Down to the bar being unmanned most of the time and everything seeming an effort for most of the staff. Card machine didn't work,on any occasion when purchasing drinks. I was asked to check my online bank account to see if payment had gone through. Despite having to pre order, being a larger party, food came out painfully slowly. Asked for a couple of sauces, of which, only one came out. No check in with staff to see if we had everything,or if all ok. Had to approach staff to take coffee order. The list goes on. On the whole,a disappointing visit. Food drinks: Satisfactory Service: 2 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great view Ver carta

Met my parents who were staying at this hotel for a meal. The food was satisfactory but the service was very slow for drinks they appeared to have employed staff who had little training. The barman didn't know how to make a **** mary the customer had to give him instructions. We were asked twice after we ordered our meals what we had ordered even though the alleged waiter had written it down in the first instance. Also when we first arrived no acknowledgement from any staff member even the receptionist who took no notice of us looking to find the bar no greeting at all eventhough the foyer was empty. In all a very odd experience but im going back there in two weeks hope this customer experie...

This hotel is beautiful such a country feel to it. Staff are all lovely and we was upgraded to the biggest room for our sons birthday which was lovely of them. I would give this hotel an overall 4 and actually it does say this is a 4star aswell and I can see why, we really did enjoy our stay here. Location is perfect with lots of beautiful land to visit with animals in every corner the hotel does need some Tlc!!! A little paint and the cleaners need to get rid of cob webs etc.we also suffered with mosquitos in the bathroom. Bathrooms a little dated and needs a freshen up. Beds was very comfortable though. The hotel it self is lovely just needs a good freshen up as carpets do have a little od...

"In the approach to Christmas, at the time of goodwill to all men, I feel hesitant writing this review. We 've had meals at The Bell before, probably on three occasions, and they have been fine with good service. This time we met friends here and had driven a long way through driving rain and were hungry! The restaurant was full, and so was the waiting area. I think the other half of the room was being used for a meeting or conference maybe, so perhaps the restaurant floor area where we normally sit was reduced. We were greeted reasonably and shown to our table and sat down, We were presented with the Festive menu. We preferred to order from the main menu. After about 15 minutes, we had to ask for these from behind the bar. Our drinks came pretty quickly our waitress was courteous and friendly, and our food order was taken. After over an hour, and noting that other tables who arrived well after we did were served before us, we enquired as to whether we had been forgotten. We had to go and find someone to ask. After 20 minutes more, our food did arrive. The bream, liver and fish and chips were OK. But I don 't think the chef knows how to cook the basics, unless a work experience person or the like was given responsibility. Mashed potato was cold and getting solid. Saute potatoes were few and far between, overcooked, small and cold. The salad was a dozen olives thrown onto a couple of lettuce leaves. The waitress offered to have the mash replaced, but we didn 't have another hour to spare. The waitress was full of apologies, but said she had asked about the delay from the kitchen. The food isn 't cheap here, so quality ought to have been reasonabe, not partly sub standard or unenjoyable. We apologised to our friends for recommending this venue. Although the bill was adjusted, we 'll probably try somewhere else next time. Shame, because we love the area and the decor."
