"So I booked a table for 20:30 on 31/01/20 for me and my girlfriend to enjoy an even g at your establishment. I have been many times before and always had a rather good experience and the management are really friendly. However, on this occasion its a, much different story. So we got seated at a table and the waitress was generally polite. Firstly we ordered a couple drinks. Myself a beer and for the lady a double gin and ginger ale. The drinks took about 20 mins to arrive and there was floating bits in the lady's drink that put her off drinking it instantly. I had a sip of my beer and the beer tested like Cork so I took it to bar and told the gentleman I think the beer is off as it seems its the bottom of the barrel and he said I was wrong and there was nothing wrong with the beer and made me out to be stupid and wrong. After a few moments he agrees to get me another beer of a different kind and that was fine but I didn't like feeling belittled in front of my date. We then ordered our food and both ordered the matured beef and to our surprise it can out withing 3 minutes of being ordered. My issue with the food is that it had clearly not been made for us. You could tell straight away that it had just been microwaved as the yourkshire pudding was soggy and the vegetables were undercooked. We was severely dissatisfied with the meal so decided to not eat it and just order another drink instead. My partner ordered a pornstar Martini which was fine and I ordered another beer and surprise they brought me the same beer that I told them I didn't like as it tasted off. I don't know if I'm unlucky but it's was a terrible evening and when I got the bill it come to £62 for 4 drinks and 2 terrible meals that I feel was overcharged as it don't make sense. I felt so disappointed but paid the bill as I was in company and did not want to complain as it got me nowhere with my beer and I would be disrespected more I think. I highly doubt I will be going there again."

The food was delicious, but the portions were small. Unfortunately, our experience was spoiled by the temperature in the restaurant, which was much too chilly to enjoy without keeping our coats on.

We visited on 13th December 2019 for our work’s Christmas lunch. The service was very good and the food was delicious . All the staff were very helpful, in particular, Hope, who was our waitress. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Ver carta

Great food, new management doing a great job to look after their customers. Service was on point , good timing between starter and main. Staff friendly and was awesome that I got to watch the chef in the kitchen whilst I waited. Great price for a very nice meal. Thanks!

We had a really nice view of the cathedral from our window seat at the restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was quick, and the staff were helpful and friendly. We tried the new menu, which had a slightly limited selection but there were some really good options available.

The restaurant did not appear to know my party were coming even though we had booked weeks before, chosen our food paid in full. Not enough staff who were stressed and putting tables together for us. Squeezed into a corner. None of the food arrived at the same time so 20 minutes or so between first people on our table and last one being served so could not eat together. My food was ok but some of my party were not happy with their food and vegetables were cold. Ver carta

Following a recommendation from a friend who ordered last week and ending furlough today, we decided to order in Sunday lunch from Bayley Lane Kitchen and we were not dissapointed. The food arrived pretty much on time. I'd already warmed plates and after literally 30 seconds in the microwave we sat down to a really tasty, filling roast and perfect crumble for dessert. Would definately order again or better still eat at the restuarant when we return to normality! Thanks Bayley Lane Kitchen.

During our second visit, just the two of us, for an early evening meal after shopping, we were greeted with a warm welcome and enjoyed excellent service in a relaxed atmosphere with nice background music. We had a table by the window, offering beautiful views of the nearby cathedral and gardens in the late afternoon sunshine. Our three-course meal included a grazing board, pork belly, fish and chips, and a trio of desserts served in shot glasses with a crisp shortbread biscuit, all of which were excellent. We will definitely be returning to this centrally located restaurant.
