"However, there were a few drawbacks in our room, such as several cobwebs around the bed, a lack of coffee (only tea, milk, and water were provided), and some peeling paint in the bathroom and on the ceiling—it definitely could use a bit of care and attention. The biggest letdown was breakfast. While the young staff in the café were pleasant and accommodating, the food left much to be desired: the poached eggs were undercooked, the bacon was barely cooked, and there were brown chunks of avocado that didn't look appealing. I would even say it was almost inedible, but the staff were quick to bring me two more eggs when I mentioned it. The coffee and homemade granola, however, were delightful. It seemed like the staff were quite busy and doing their best, but perhaps a manager on site would help improve things. Despite these minor issues, I would definitely stay here again for a night away."

I almost feel I committed theft given the huge size we got for the price we paid. This was really well maintained and clean, the experience was very pleasant. Ver carta

Meh, so so coffee that wasnt hot enough and pretty average cakes. Also visited a few weeks ago and the bread for the bacon sandwich was dry and a drinks mix up meant our teas didn't arrive until well after we'd eaten.

The atmosphere here is always friendly and relaxed. Keep in mind that they are closed on Tuesdays. It's a great spot for a coffee or lunch break while exploring the beautiful Fonthill Estate. Service: 5/5 Location: 5/5

Bird and Carter is a beautiful restaurant perfect location and lovely outdoor space. We hired the restaurant for our post wedding lunch and the food and service was exceptional. Would highly recommend going to Bird and Carter for a meal Annie and the team were incredible throughout the whole process and made the day really special. Ver carta

Very Small room for a superior double. The place needs some maintenance and repainting .The door we had on Avon challet did not close easily and needs repainting.Same inside bathroom door does not lock properly. Food was nice..London prices .Service is adequate..polite and helpful. Overall the place is let down as there is a lack of maintenance and general upkeep of property. Beautiful location ut this does not mitigate the general appearance of the property. Rooms: Small and generally poor attention to detail and finish. I always receive a warm welcome with a lovely smile from the staff, who are all professional and eager to assist. It's dog-friendly, which makes a big difference! The restaurant has a charming atmosphere and a great outdoor area complete with a covered canopy and heaters. Additionally, there's access to a river that runs through the garden, which is delightful for children in the summer. The food and drinks are all fantastic. Our kids really enjoy the hot chocolates and cakes, and I think their sandwiches and sausage rolls are excellent! Overall, it's a lovely restaurant that’s perfect for breakfast, lunch, and overnight stays. I would definitely recommend it! Nearby activities include a per...

"We (4 chaps) had booked for a gentleman 's evening out to enjoy a nice steak dinner. Pub was very quiet and all night it remained largely empty with 1 other visible dinner plus a shooting party of around 12 in one of the other rooms. Atmosphere suffered and whilst its not in the team 's control it was very surprising on a Thursday night in the lead up to Christmas. Main two issues were the very limited steak options which given its one of their 'big ' selling points was very disappointing. Just 6-7 sirloin steaks left, everything else not available! Either they had a significant run on steaks or are not managing the rotation in the air dryer for the meat to ensure good supply. Once ordered we waited on the food and when it arrived it was luke warm to the point it could not melt the accompanying Confit Butter, needed the sauce to add some warmth and basically required you to inhale your steak just to have a warm meal. Server noted this but offered no apology just asked if we wanted them reheated...turning medium rare to medium or well done! Would have understood if the kitchen was very busy but at this point could not see any other occupied tables, even the shooting party were still just drinking. At £38 a steak it would have been a better experience and perceived value to have a hot meal that you could saviour. We have all eaten here before and had lovely roast dinners so very disappointed. The value versus price did not match and for a destination for steak, will think again before going back for a nice steak dinner with friends."

"Hello, after thinking about this, I do feel justified to contact you to explain how I feel. Yesterday we came in for lunch and this being a lunchtime treat for my daughter her husband and my grandson, we frequent lovely restaurants and pubs to delight in good locally sourced and freshly cooked food. However, I am sorry to say we left bitterly disappointed and at a very heavy price, now before you think ‘these people aren’t used to paying for good food’ yes we are, but, to charge us £185.00 for our lunch when, I had roast pork, my daughter had roast beef and then there was 2 American burgers … 1) The burgers came with plastic cheese and a few shreds of cabbage and the fries were hardly home cooked chips but instead a handful of frozen ones … 2) My daughter had 2 slices of beef, both of which were full of gristle … She had HALF a Carrot and HALF a Parsnip !! a teaspoon of creamed leeks and likewise for cabbage, the roast potatoes were dry and hard, all obviously pre cooked. 3) I had the pork, the roast potatoes were as above and low and behold, I had HALF a Carrot and HALF a Parsnip, no brains needed to work out that between my daughter and I we had one carrot and one parsnip between us The same applies to to the vegetables, I must however compliment you on the Yorkshire pudding. 4) The ice cream choice … one tiny scoop 5) £20 discretionary service charge was added and yet not one smile came out of any of the faces of our waiting staff in fact the young girl who took our order looked liked she’d rather of been anywhere except at work and us deciding on a menu choice to her was obviously a complete hindrance! We have ate and paid for many meals lunches and suppers out at various locations but yesterdays experience sadly was a bitter disappointment and at a huge cost nearly £200 for poor meat ridiculous vegetables and surly staff. We have ate at The Lamb and Beckford Arms many times but thought we’d try yourselves. The very sad situation is I wrote this and sent it privately so the pub could have the chance to respond however I heard nothing so I sent a message again privately to ask if someone would respond nothing I then rang the pub and actually spoke to the manager I was told they’d get back to me Nothing!"
