"Had a week in the Herault and got to 5 restaurants. This was the first and on the day we arrived.Have eaten at a restaurant on the site of this one since 2001. The first was the famous Boucherie which was a superb restaurant and much missed. The second was another version of the Boucherie but run by the former staff. It was almost as good. In 2007 it closed and 6 months later the maginificent O Bontemps opened. Now we have a new restaurant apparently owned and run by the same family as ran the first Boucherie. It is not the Boucherie reborn. However the service was very friendly and helpful. The wines are really good value (we had a bottle of Magellan Grenache) and so is the food. However it is not as good as it could be. To be fair we only had a main course (my wife had lamb and I had filet de boeuf) and it was very good but not great. But we will be back."

The most amazing atmosphere to dine in. Outside just in front of the old church. Great local food and local wine. Flexible dishes for kids and vegetarians. Best of all was the lovely staff. Ver carta

Lovely little restaurant by the church. We had a delicious and elegant 3-course lunch for 14€, "Midi Express", with a glass of nice wine from the village. Very good value for money, and the owners are a very nice family. Highly recommended.

Our second time here this holiday was again fantastic. Staff are very friendly and food is beautifully presented, well cooked and tasty. Evelyn is a wonderful host. Both times we've had the Menu Express at Euro 14 and is good value for a 3 course meal.

I have eaten at this restaurant several times and never been disappointed. The food is presented in a nice way. One of the owner is a butcher so the meat is to prefer especially the entrecoté, I have also tried the fish a couple of times and it's good. The price is around 14 euro for a 3 course lunch and other main dishes starts from around 18 euro. The service is higher than standard. Well worth a visit or two :) Ver carta

A local told us to visit here for food. The restaurant is very nicely done up with old fashioned decor (which is not dusty loke in most places with old memorabilia). The owner is excentric and friendly. The menu had many options. I went for the fish special which was quite nice. I especially loved the chips served with other dishes. Desert was very nice also, I had the chocolate fondant which is called chocolate cake on the menu. Will definitely be back. Beware of the friendly cat!

We went for dinner tonight hoping for a good meal and a lovely place to be. The location is lovely. Tables just under the beautiful old church tower and with perfect blue skies. The food was exceptional- far better than we expected. My wife's salmon dish was lovely, the menu enfant was a hit with the kids and my lamb was honestly the best I have ever tasted. Really friendly staff, good wine and a huge bargain for the quality of the meal. We're excited to have found this place and will definitely be back!

"I was a long term diner at O. Bontemps in Magalas and devastated when it closed February 2016. I visited this new venture in October 2016 and had dinner on a Friday night (The restaurant is only open for dinner on Friday evenings: otherwise it's...lunch or afternoon tea). It was a solid Star performance but not at the same level as the Magalas restaurant. I returned for lunch this week. The price for two courses was 18euros and we both chose to have an entree and main course. The starter was set, but lack of choice with Bontemps has never been a problem for us as his dishes are so interesting. This was no exception being a cold veal deal with mixed vegetables. This is a pathetic description as this was an outstanding dish with wonderfully enticing flavours and fabulous textures. For the main course my wife had a delicate salmon dish while I had something basically described as a butcher's cut. It was (as Olivier explained) a cut of veal adjacent to the filett called Onglet which I think is called skirt. It was beautifully flavoured and perfectly cooked and much more interesting than most fillet stake dishes than I've ever had. We had a couple of glasses of wine and they were very reasonable quality and reasonably priced at 3.50euros per glass. (the glasses could be a little bigger). The restaurant was full and deservedly so. This was a 5 Star performance."
