great, excellent menu du jour, very good value for money, waiters were really friendly and efficient, overall a good experience

I had an evening coffee and dinner. good service with good quality eating and a great location. beautiful selection of beer also.

My wife and I were looking for a good value lunch in a typically French setting on a warm afternoon.....and we got one. The restaurant was very busy. The service was very slick. We had the 3 course plat du jour for 16.50e all of...which was excellent and washed down with a carafe of free table water and a half litre of rose was 6.50e . Really, you can't complain at that. I suppose if you can't speak French you'll always have problems in France but having had a bit of banter with the waiter about well-done steak, when it arrived shortly after, it was absolutely perfect. My wife, who is fussy about her steak being well-done thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Add to that the very pleasant waiter, the view over the ice-skating, everyone in the festive mood and a bit of pleasant banter (in French, of-course) this was a really enjoyable experience! Would recommend this restaurant...definitely!

If you have an unnacountable fondness for the cardboardy quality you might usually associate with second cheapest pizza available at Iceland, then give this place a try. The other food might be better, but it seems unlikely - my son's fish fillet was of the frozen birds eye variety, with frozen chunky chips to match. What's happened to French culinary standards - this isn't a cheap takeway joint, it's one of the two eateries in the main square of Rochefort, and they aren't capable of turning out a decent portion of frites. It's just depressing.

in rochefort it would be unimaginable not to visit the place colbert, whether for a coffee or lunch. the natives are very proud of the musical that seems to function as a catalyst for the popularity of this charming city. after we stopped for cofee. and cool drinks a few times, (time in the middle of the thirty years) we were sitting on Saturday for lunch, where the place was filled with a lot of clubs of all different, the demonstrations especially for young people. so we had entertained Roman style by rushing each other while we had a cozy chicken salad and a cool rose. they make themselves like a native, but as always, they do not come too late. We were four adults and two children who sat down for the menu du jour lunch at 1 p.m - and at 3 pm I had to get up and feed the parking meter. We adults had chosen the Formule Express - I hate to think how long the Formule Lente would have taken.The kids' first course was served immediately, and ours after about 40 minutes, which made it that much harder to leave after waiting for almost another hour.Then the waiter had forgotten the children's desserts, ice cream.The food? Well, my andouillette was definitely off, but the rest of the party urged me not to make a fuss, which I regret as I later visited the bathroom in our hotel more times than I would have liked

There are numerous cafes dotted around the square and surrounding streets but this one was busy so guessed it's probably a reasonable place to stop for a lunch snack. There's outside seating as well as under parasol umbrellas - it was a hot day so we like most customers opted for undercover - every now and then a cool breeze blew through. It was certainly busy and staff were run off their feet - however, if you make yourself noticed you will get attention. We decided on hot drinks and omelette/crepes - drinks and omelette arrived surprisingly quick - the omlette came with a large portion of fries plus salad. Breakfast in France is not like we have it in Belgium. Mostly it is a coffee and a croissant on the go, some baguette with butter and jam but nothing more. We were looking for a 'petit dejeuner' as we had arrived to camp late the night before and had not been able to do some shopping. I asked one of the waitresses if they served breakfast and got a positive answer, so we took a seat but we had to wait for a long, long time before somebody came to take the order. Okay, the girl had to manage the whole terrace at that time but people who only had a coffee also had to be patient even if they had asked for what they wanted.
