Reservation is definitely needed. A locals' spot, friendly to visitors, serving traditional Dutch food, substantial portions. The Stamppot was very tasty and hearty. Our waiter informed us the Stamppot is their family's recipe. One person in our party ordered the vegetarian version and thought it was fabulous!

Again, as we do every year, dinner during our annual business trip to amsterdam. It's that good. The menu is substantial but it's the fish and lamb that does it for us. Add their salad and their lovely fries and we have never made it to dessert but the list is impressive. It's not a wine bar but their wine or alcohol choices in general just fine. Not a large place so it's not fast food so practice patience the food is worth a little chill time.

Zwaantje is a small restaurant serving traditional Dutch food. As they explain on their website, they started as a cafe and evolved into what it is now. Good portion sizes, low prices. As a tourist, I would say the food is interesting, and the place is friendly enough for tourists. For example, they take Visa and don't charge an extra fee for that. I would recommend getting a reservation. It can get crowded, and there isn't much of a waiting area. They tell you to be on time for your reservation, but they are punctual as well, so that's fair enough.

Reservations are must for this bar restaurant. We started with the mushrooms on toast which was a little underwhelming. For the main course, we split the Grandma's stew and the boiled mussels. The stew was fantastic. It's a large dish and could honestly be for 2 people. It's the perfect meal with protein, mashed potatoes, vegetables and a sweet and tart apple puree. The mussels were tasty. The portions in this restaurant are gigantic so make sure you come hungry. The staff were very friendly and helpful about the food they recommended. The price was fair considering the large portions of food.

I really wanted to try traditional Dutch food and was able to find this location on Yelp. We got there right at open def make a reservation! They got busy as we were there. The waiter was super nice and explained the dishes to us when he set it down which I appreciated! We started with bread and butter. The butter was deliciously seasoned. The bread was very good also. Freshly baked. I ordered the stewing steak it came with the beef in a dish and then a plate of mashed potato's, green beans, carrots, Brussels, and a side of apple sauce. We popped in around 5 pm without a reservation to see about getting a table we were told by one of the guys serving (no formal host) that they were fully committed and there was other food around the area. It felt a little off putting like he didn't want us there because we were tourists. So we went online after leaving to discover that they had a few open reservations for later that evening. *We were determined to have a true dutch meal upon our visit and this is definitely one of the few places in the city that offers that. This place presents itself as a cozy brown cafe with local Dutch food and a friendly family run atmosphere. Reality is close but a bit different it is a good ish local Dutch restaurant but with some service and hygiene issues. We came here upon recommendation of the concierge and had a reservation and were seated promptly.
