Cafe Urban - Carta

My husband and I ordered a pasta and pizza here and it was really below average- very bland and seemed cooked from frozen.

Very poor tasting food considering the price and location pizza was an unusual non pizza tasting pizza and the mussels were I'm sure just served in Heinz tomato soup

Always use this for dinner,when we arrive at the Sofitel. The staff are always pleasant and professional and their burgers are delicious. This time, we had fish and chips, which was lovely. Ver carta

We had a meal in this cafe, really good choice and the food quality is excellent, it's on cheap when you think they call it a cafe, but you have to remember where you are and in comparison to other gatwick hotel food places, a joy

The quality of the food is very good but the service is really poor. Even if with few people and plenty of waiters you have to wait ages to order and to get food or drinks. The funny thing is that they charge you automatically 12% service on the bill. Sorry but it’s not fair.

Fantastic service great atmosphere and lovely food. We had an exceptional welcome from Syed front of house friendly helpful very organised fantastic beard and mustache and then excellent table service from Vela, friendly, efficient and fast. We had supper at the Urban Cafe this evening and while the food was good, the service was really poor and slow. The staff seemed to favouring the airline crew over ‘normal’ customers taking care of them first even though they sat down after us. It took 25 minutes for our drink order to be taken even though staff members promised to see us next.

For our final night we all had the fish and chips, the food was lovely, it was cooked very well, the restaurant is small and when it get busy you may have to wait. The only thing I will say is that this restaurant needs more staff when it gets busy, it took a while to get the bill and that automatically added the service charge of 12%, we did ask them to remove this as it was too expensive for the wait.

We’d eaten here a couple of times before while staying at the Sofitel. This time we had a deal with our overnight stay and parking for the week which basically paid for a couple of courses from the menu of the day for the two of us or could be used towards overall cost of our bill. Waited a while for a table as it was a busy Friday evening but had a beer in the bar while waiting. Service was quick enough and pretty friendly and efficient. Food was good and there’s a decent choice of draught and bottled beers to be had. Overall enjoyed our meal and wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again. Ver carta
