"I made a reservation before going to the restaurant, but we still had to wait almost an hour to receive our starters and the restaurant was not even full. My husband had the soup, which was okay, and I ordered the chili beef. The presentation of the chili beef was poor and the taste was not great. I couldn't pinpoint whether it was the kale, but all the flavors were overwhelming and clashed with each other. When the waitress asked us if everything was okay, I mentioned that I was unsure about the kale ruining the dish. She relayed my feedback to the chef and returned to inform me that the kale only had salt and sugar on it. I couldn't understand why it looked greasy and tasted terrible. The pork dish was decent but a bit dry. It was also distracting to see someone (possibly from the creamery) having a meeting with staff at the table next to us while we waited so long for our meal. Overall, it was not the enjoyable experience we were hoping for. It's a shame. If they cannot handle constructive criticism, it doesn't bode well for the restaurant. I suggest the chef taste-test the food before adding it to the menu."

So glad Calvert’s reopened. Had a lovely meal today, everything in mains was piping hot and soup was delicious. Worth the trip for sure.

Great deal! We tried the cheese platter, which was like a selection of cheese tapas. It included delicious Wensleydale cheeses paired with various accompaniments.

The food and atmosphere at this restaurant were both wonderful. We each ordered a burger with our choice of cheese, and it was likely the best burger we've ever had. The prices were very reasonable and the coffee was excellent.

This isn’t a review for the excellent Calvert’s restaurant at the Wensleydale Creamery because unfortunately Calvert’s restaurant is closed until further notice. The cafe is open for snacks and a Sunday lunch so if you want to go to the Creamery go to the cafe instead.

Based inside the Wensleydale Creamery this is surprising good. We both had the set Sunday roast, beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast mash potatoes, 3 vegetables. All were hot and well cooked. Service was excellent from arrival to departure. Sticky toffee pudding was lovely (if a bit pricy at £6). We booked for 12 midday and it was 70% full. Will definitely return.

A wonderful stop for a delicious Food was delicious, reasonably priced (two courses £14.95) and the service excellent. Sea bass was served on a bed of roast vegetables and the ginger cheesecake the best cheesecake I’ve EVER had. Well worth a stop as there is also a tour around the workings of the dairy and a well stocked gift shop as well as a cheese shop. Well done Wensleydale

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!! The atmosphere was quiet and welcoming, the decor was cute and subtle and the food was sensational. The coleslaw was herby and creamy, the coffee was rounded and smooth, the chips was perfectly fried, and the burger was one of the best patties I have ever had. The texture was fresh and meaty, it was perfectly cooked, juicy and flavoursome. And the prices were surprisingly reasonable, for the best burger I’ve had in a long time it was cheaper than most other restaurants.

Had excellent Sunday lunch. My family enjoyed the roast beef dinner and i had the pesto cheese filled chicken breast meal which was delicious. Liked the look of all desserts on the menu but had summer pudding which was just right with a bit of tang and nice dollop of cream on top. Others in the group enjoyed ginger cheesecake and Eton Mess. Bill came to £80.80 which i thought was good for 4 2 course meals. 2 Bottles of cider and 1 1/2 pints of beer and 3 coffees! The restaurant was not even half full but they were telling people it was fully booked so we were guessing the kitchen was short staffed so it was a good job we booked. Friendly polite waiting staff also.
