Enjoyed a lovely relaxed early evening meal here. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was well presented and of excellent quality.

Often drop in for lunch. Lovely place very comfortable and if you have a dog with you then no problems as they are permitted. Choice to sit inside or out, and food is always very quickly served up and is of really good standard, and the coffee is superb. Staff always very friendly too.

The atmosphere at this restaurant is cozy and laid-back. I decided to try the fish and chips for the first time and was not disappointed. My wife opted for a light nachos dish paired with a glass of nice white wine. We both had a great experience and would definitely come back to eat here again.

brilliant night for birthday parties. new management team have worked wondering and along with their team, the courtyard have much better, from beginning to end the service was 5* and they could not do enough for us. Eating and drinking service was fast but not hurrying. in the evening it really enjoyed and will be back again and again.

Visited for lunch with friends after a morning hike round and up Kenmore Hill. Will all had the Steak Sandwich, which was excellent, with the steak on each cooked to each individual's taste. Leather sofas were lovely and comfortable and along with the open wood fire resulted in a restful and very pleasant visit. Service was first class.

We brought my husband's parents to this restaurant for coffee last weekend. Upon arrival, they didn't have us sign a track and trace form. When it started to rain, they moved diners who were indoors, but we felt that the open doors didn't provide enough fresh air according to government regulations. We were surprised by this. The coffee was bad and cold, so they gave us one for free when it arrived cold. Overall, it wasn't worth the money, and we chose this tea room thinking it would be clean and safe during Covid, but it was just average. Quite disappointing.

Yesterday, I had lunch at the Courtyard Bar and Brassiere. The staff was attentive, but we had to ask for track and trace details to be taken. As we were leaving, we saw Belted Galloways in the field next to the hotel and decided to take a photo. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to see discarded cans and cigarette butts in what seemed to be a smoking shelter used by the staff. I emailed the hotel to suggest they add a bin to prevent such litter, but I have not received any acknowledgment or response. I expected better from a supposedly high-class establishment that may be living off a past reputation. There is no excuse for litter, especially coming from the staff.

We chose to dine here as not able to dine in the main restaurant as my husband not bought a smart pair of trousers.We found the menu rather like pub grub and the one thing we wanted the duck when we came to order was not available at just gone 7.30pm, so ended up having a tapas between the two of us. Normally when we chose 6 tapas dishes it's more than enough but when they arrived we have never seen such small portions! The garlic prawns was more like an Chinese dish served with rice! Out of wonderful experience of the stay at Armathwaithe Hall this was the thing that let it down. Even the baked Alaska pudding did not make the mark! If we every stay here again we will use the main restaurant...

Just back from a nights stay at the armathwaite hall hotel. We were on a dinner, bed and breakfast package. You could choose to eat here at the courtyard which is a more informally dressed relaxed restaurant. Perfect for us! The service here was fantastic! All waiting staff were so attentive. We were told we had £35 per person to spend on food. So we did!!! We had the baked Camembert for a starter which is a must try!!!! We highly recommend this! My husband had the Cajun chicken with bacon and cheese added on. We asked for the bacon to be well done...it was cooked to perfection! I ordered the 10oz sirloin rare...again, cooked to perfection! We had a side order of a garlic bread with cheese a...
