Me and my fiance went there once, while visiting edinburgh on vacation. this restaurant has amazing! great value and just superb food. I would strongly suggest getting the meat plate outstanding! had a great experience!

Very good choice.. Quirky and inviting dining room. Excellent service I've been for lunch and dinner and have found that, especially at the prices, the food on offer is exceptional. Some of the best puddings around as well A must-visit restaurant in Edinburgh.

probably my favorite meal during my second trip to edinburgh we came for a quick lunch before we went back to london and eating was just raised! I had the marinated salmon as an appetizer, haggis for a main and toffee pudding for dessert. they were all very tasty my dining room partner had the confit to start and absolutely loved it too fast service and friendly staff. I'll come back when I'm in town!

came here tonight with my friend to get a tasty meal. for the better part of two weeks I had a terrible demand for steak and chips, and the dogs certainly made their mark. the steak was delicious and juicy while the chips were hard fried and were expertly crispy. my friend had that lammed and although my demand for steak and chips I was almost trying to ask to swallow because it was so delicious. Open up. we've been done with the dogs by a budding luck. on the first look it looks haphazard, with misplaced chairs and higgldy blacks, but the service was smooth and no nonsense and eating very well. our waiter was quirky, with his biker look and deep sound, but he had a great feeling of humor, and his service was unbeatable. I recommend this not so run the mill restaurant and will definitely go again when I am in edinburgh.

A dog grooming parlous? A pet shop? Nope – a wonderful, chic restaurant with great, mid-range priced food. You walk up some creaky old, dark wooden stairs, accompanied by images of dogs (primarily whippet and greyhound-type dogs) until you reach this bright dining room. we booked a table last week after a recommendation of a friend. I like it has an interesting feeling as they come as if they go to someone's apartment. we sat in the front dining room, which is not huge and the tables are very close together. first I thought that would bother me during our meal, but it wasn't a problem. after studying the menu I decided to start the shredded lamb, skirlie, granatapfel and mandel. I'm not a big lamb fan, but that was maybe my favorite part of my meal. Good food; lovely place. We were a bit confused at first, having booked a table at The Dogs, we found Underdogs and Amore Dogs and The Dogs all next door to each other. But we were in The Dogs after all, and it was fabulous Service was quick without feeling rushed. Food delicious. We had venison liver which was perfectly cooked, and the vegetarian sausages with mash, which were great. Puddings sticky toffee, and lemon thyme posset. Just lovely. The Dogs is a name that I have heard again and again from numerous sources, all lauding its fine food for great prices. Holders of the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand, that was an accolade that a poor student such as myself wouldn't miss. The award signifies food of great quality, served at reasonable prices, which is most certainly the holy grail of eating out for anyone I would imagine.
