We were the first customers of the evening. Owner was very friendly and welcoming. Food was really nice, generous portions and reasonably priced. The other reviews praising this restaurant were correct and we were not disappointed!

Hidden little gem and my go to every time we are in the area. Do not be fooled by the appearance of the restaurant the food and staff are amazing. The owner has no interest in large groups just a small amount of customer so he can guarantee you will love the food.

Re-opened in March after closing for winter. All previous reviews were exceptional and we weren’t disappointed. Food was tasty and plentiful. We was a party of four and chose two set meals (for two). The portions were more than enough and the food was superb. Looked like the pictures on the menu and tasted great. Small friendly run restaurant. Recommend booking to avoid disappointment.

This was our second visit in comparatively short time. Absolutely superb and should be packed out. Each time we had wonderful starters, great Chinese tea and just superb main courses especially good to have great vegetarian for me. Sweet and sour quorn to die for, partners meat dishes he said were wonderful. Best pineapple fritters ever. Best surprise each time the bill. £30 for two. I would like to see them lower ceiling which will help them with heating in winter and add to cosiness of visit. We are so lucky to have this jewel of a restaurant, clean, terrific food, nice staff. We will be back and back Diana and John

Amazing little gem in Lowestoft so don’t be put off by how quiet it is. The restaurant is a family business who pride customers over mass bookings. Our food was delicious and after mentioning I like a bit of heat as in chilli heat the owner brought over his home made chilli oil…. Wow so tasty To top of the evening in walked Ramon Tikamon a great actor and voice over actor so we sat quietly listening to his excellent voice . We were staying in a B&B The Corner house as we have done several time over the past 10 years but left the dog at my mums allowing us to go and try some local restaurants. You will not be disappointed by the food and the owner is a true gentleman who made us feel at home...

Had an amazing meal here in here on Friday. The gent who owns it welcomed us and even before ordering a bowl of fresh prawn crackers arrived at the table whilst we viewed the menu. Food was all cooked fresh, had an lovely hot and sour soup to start. Two meals with a portion egg fried rice and a portion of noddles with bean sprouts and we just had to leave room for Chinese toffee apples for dessert. At around £65 for all that food, a bottle of wine and a couple of beers I would say it was one hell of a bargain. The front of house gent was so lovely, too. The time to chat to us and have a little laugh with us. You really need to give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed and we will cert...

It had been a while since our last takeaway from here but we thought to try it again and were very pleased with the food. We enjoyed three dishes, chicken with spring onion and ginger, fried rice with cashews and pineapple, and some crispy beef. All three dishes were tasty, and the crispy beef was the best we have ever enjoyed in a Chinese takeaway...nicely crispy and not (as can often be the case) chewy tough. Prices were reasonable...rice was £5.20, the other two dishes £12 between them. Portions were decent and just enough for the two of us, and a small bag of prawn crackers was included wit the order as well as one 'fortune cookie '. The owner is always very polite and happy and we will...

"Having been a regular customer for over a decade to The Bell Inn, I was left very underwhelmed this time. Room was lovely and clean as usual, Tom on reception was fab. We chose to dine in the restaurant as normal and booked for 730pm so we had a nice long evening to enjoy eating and drinking. The menu is now very limited compared to previous years, we chose to have 4 starters to share and some rose wine with bread to start. Slight delay on bread, which came crammed on a small plate, which we had to ask for side plates after waiting for the waitress to reappear…the oil and balsamic was awful, there was so much oil chucked in the ramekin we had to ask for another, to pour some off to try and get to the vinegar. Food came out, and was put on table, again had to ask for side plates as we were sharing and still had bread on the other ones. No drinks check. Had to wait at bar to order more. Food was mediocre at best, we both have very good appetites especially after the harbour walk and some wine! but both ended up just picking at it. Ended up going to room with our wine very early, the only other table in the restaurant that was occupied had some sort of problem ordering due to “fryers being turned off” and got sandwiches and chips instead! Slept well as usual. Went for a quick dog walk before breakfast and narrowly avoided being hit by the chef arriving at 845am in the car park. Arrived on time for breakfast at 9am, lovely, lovely waitress served us, ordered full English and pot of tea, partner the same with coffee. Took a sip of the tea and it was barely lukewarm… spoke to waitress who was very apologetic and bought me a fresh one, turns out the rest of the room all had the same problem with tea and coffee as the urn hadn’t been turned on in time see chef comment food came out and was delicious and hot, and top quality as usual, we cleared our plates! Room was spotlessly clean, and the Tyneham hand wash/cream is so good! Overall disappointing as I know how good this place can be, and the first time I’ve ever encountered any problems. As stated before it was not busy in the slightest compared to previous years, so no excuse really. I will return as The Bell holds dear memories for me, I hope next year it will have ironed out these problems and be back to full glory!"
