"This a delightful restaurant, located at the back of a little square - right off the main plaza in the heart of Offenburg. Very traditional inside and outside, it is warm and welcoming, as are the proprietors. They did not speak highly-fluent English, but that was no great obstacle as they cheerfully helped us negotiate the menu offerings. We made two stops here during our stay, enjoying fish, steak, fried potato (rosti) and German spaetzle dishes, as well as an excellent flammen kuchen, which could be likened to a thin-crust pizza (ours had cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms). The restaurant offers the typical beer types (pilsner, dark, Weiss, etc.) and all were served cold. The weather being mixed, we dined inside, but you can also dine outside in front, which provides for some nice people-watching. All in all, highly recommended."

If you are in the town and you want to try the very traditional food this place is the best one! I can not say that this cuisine is my favorite one, but I found it pretty good.

I visit here regularly! I often talk with the owner. Its a really nice place. Only thing I dont understand is why they close from until in the afternoon. Apart from that. Fantastic!

Went for an evening meal. Although the meals cost us euro, they were very tasty. We had a large salad starter, followed by two main courses, two small beers and a bottle of water. Not expensive for Germany.

We chose this restaurant as we were told that it is very traditional and offers local cuisine. The beer is superb.....the main course was great too (I had the local pork with spetze ) however the desert was more Iceland than home made !

Was in Offenburg for business.I chose this place based on reviews by this site and co-workers. Food was typical German fare and was served quickly and fresh. The beer was very good. Can not wait to try another item here next time i visit!

Quaint with great old fashioned architecture. Service is excellent and seating both inside and outside. Language not a problem, English is as good as the German. Food delicious with large portions, salads charged extra. Good view of old city.

This restaurant was by far one of the best local tastes restaurant That I have frequented. The beers were cold and the food hot. I had the Grillteller Andres and I enjoyed every morsel. My wife had the Rosti Classic and she stated that it was a very tasty dish of mushrooms, gravy, and potatoe pancake. Definetly stop in there.

Came to Offenburg with Dance World Cup. Over our 11 day stay in Offenburn, we managed to dine at this restaurant 4 times!When we had free time to eat out, this was the place we went. The staff, which seems to be family run, were so happy and pleasant. Helpful with my lack of German.The food was incredible, so fresh and flavoursome. The salads especially and the meat were top notch.5* review.

This place seems quite popular, we went twice and most of the tables were taken each night, even though it was Easter.I get the impression that this couple has been here for quite a while, because they have an air of guardedness or skepticism that we didn't feel anywhere else in Offenburg. I'm sorry they have had bad experiences, but if they were more open or friendly, I would rate them higher.
