"if you want to eat authentic delicious Italian cuisine, then this is the perfect place marenghi’s restaurant is one of these hidden gems in newport and once they have discovered it and eating it they tasted sure they return. I and my family have booked a buffet for 12 of us on a Saturday night. they are just a small restaurant, which is housed for about 40 people and in which usually does not remain open in the evening, if they book nothing else, so we had the whole place for ourselves! it was like we had our own private kitchen and mario and his staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable! I come from an Italian family and we were all with eating authentic Italian foods, so it is always difficult to search Italian restaurants that we actually rate very for its authenticity. nothing beats Italian home kitchen! but merenghis Italian coffee shop was the first time we were all super impressed. it was like eating in a small family-run restaurant in Italy. he served dishes that they do not even see in other Italian restaurants. not unusual as they expect in the rule of Italian restaurants in this country, but authentic, super tasty and true for the southern style of Italian cuisine! they must try this place if they have a passion for Italian food."

"Some GF options in the main menu including Fish Chips. They also said they had GF halls to make burgers. No GF children's meals on the menu, but the staff said they could do something for us. Dedicated frit for chips. Also a few GF desserts, even sticky toffee pudding! When we called beforehand, they seemed understandable about cross-contamination, etc. My daughter really enjoyed her fish chips."

"I had a delicious brie and cranberry toastie and, my husband thought the goat curry was lush ! Jason and his team made the most gorgeous cake and cupcakes for my husband. Light, fluffy victoria sponge, covered in a beautiful tasty buttercream, yum! Food, service, garden all wonderful"

I don't take any joy to write such a bad critique, but the people of bassaleg deserve better. pitiful portions (2 thin slices of bark,) unseasoned veg, chip potatoes (not...Roast); all served cold. no warning as they have reached such a good rating, but please do one please and give it a big one until they order a chef."
