"Gill is a great bistro. Everything was excellent fro the beginning to the end. We had a three course meal which comes for 30 euros. While some may consider this on the expensive side, we found it cheap given the high quality of the ingredients used and the chef's creativeness. For starters we had the mesclun salad (special) and a dish with eggs, mushroom and onions in a wine infused broth. This dish was amazing. Our main dishes were the pork sausage and baked cod(special). Both were very well prepared and very tasty. Finally, for desert we had the praline creme Brûlée and the chocolate mouse, which according to our server was the restaurant's specialty. Both were out of this world. The service was as excellent as the food from the beginning to the end and we were treated as the locals despite not speaking French at all. This is a great plus as a lot of people in France seem to not speak English. Overall Gill was a great experience. If you are in Rouen you have to eat here. Plus it is located in the Joan of Arc plaza, which is in the city center and close to all major attractions."

Bistro in modern setting. Interior not really appealing, feels a bit " cold" . Food is ok, not great. Not a place to remember for me.

We choose it because it was the only one were we got a table on a Saturday night. Small restaurant, seems less glamorous than the ones surrounding, but we were positively surprised by the food. Maybe not delicatessen, but good quality/price relation taking into account the location. Staff very very friendly!!

Went there as it is a "name" in the area. Staff and atmosphere were both good and the wine list was a good range and not overly priced. My choice on the day - bavette of beef with new potatoes - just did not do it for me. My wife had a fabulous meal (and no doubt a separate review!) bit i left a little disappointed

Had to try this having eaten at the original Gill a couple of times some 30 years ago... Nice to find somewhere not obviously aimed at tourists in this location. Clean modern decor, very good service. Food good but not overly memorable - I had a delicious salmon dish, but my husband was underwhelmed by a very ordinary steak.

We'd looked at the big brother Gill earlier and decided that, as they don't do prix fixes for Saturday lunch, we'd leave it. Anyway, that same evening we stumbled across this place, the little brother bistro! It was just what we needed; expertly waited tables; lovely presentation; relaxed enough to have our preteen with us too.We had the menu formule / prix fixe which was great value for a perfect French meal.Everything was great. Readily recommend it.

Nice small modern bistro on the historical Place de Vieux Marche, decor quite minimalist. Service was good and staff friendly. Very good wine list with number of Sancerre wines, food was quite good but our pet hate, cold food & cold plates, had to return my husbands veal escalope to be reheated, I had Steak Tartare which was very well seasoned and enjoyable. Was expecting much more as Gill also has a 2 Michelin star restaurant a few streets away. Will we go there again.......don't know.

We came here on a Saturday night early (7.30 pm) and were glad we had as we got the last free table. At least 6 lots of hopefuls were turned away while we ate. The food was excellent, with a good choice on the menu, at least 6 starters/mains/ desserts and a choice of wines. We opted for the beauloais at 21. euros a bottle which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had the Lyon sausage with pistachio and potato salad for mains and the choice of Normansdy cheese for afters, with soft boiled egg in wine sauce as starter. Fast, friendly service rounded off a perfect evening. We shall be back adn warmly recommend this place.!

We were en route to Deauville (reviews to follow) and wanted an overnight stop. We'd not been to Rouen for ages, so it seemed a good stop. Having checked into the Mercure Champ de Mars we were directed as to the short [10 minute] walk to the rue du Gros Horloge, which is the centre of the City. The magnificent cathedral looks over everthing. We waked around the Place du Vieux Marche and saw several restaurants, but the one which attracted us was Gill Cote Bistro. It's the offshoot of a one Michelin star plae, but all the better for it. The service is charming and efficient, our reservation, made by the hotel, was recognised and the reasonably sized and well priced [€29.50 for three courses]...

Gill cote bistro is the affordable side of the number one restaurant in Rouen, Gill, a bit too formal and too pricy for the average visitor. But Gill Bistro is just perfect. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and just about affordable prices, it's the perfect recipe for a great lunch or dinner. Situated on the lovely old Place du Vieux Marche (unfortunately spoiled here and there by huge, unsightly, over-exposed bins!) it makes for an easy place to eat. Now the food! It is absolutely delicious! I took an endives salad as starter, sounds simple but the divine can be in the simple. Then followed by pave de saumon with some fantastic salad or vegetable, not sure which, but tasting heavenly. T...
