Herings im Martinswinkel

Stopped here for a hot chocolate drink and a beer. It was a cold day and blankets were provided for the outside seating area. Great friendly staff who spoke good English. Not overly priced.

I’ve been coming to Cologne with work for many years. I wish I had found this place before. Definitely my favourite Cologne restaurant. Small, friendly, homely, welcoming, and good food. Really don’t need to say any more. Come here.

Beautiful Old building in the heart of Old Cologne. Menu choice is outstanding and service was excellent. Lovely welcoming vibe, full of happy German diners but kindly have the menu in English as well as the staff speaking both. A lucky find.Highly recommend this gorgeous...wee pub/restaurant.. We visited last night and the Restaurant was busy so ws decided to come for Lunch.We were not disappointed .We had Prawns for starters followed by Herrings in cream sauce and 1kg of Mussels.The food was excellent so was the service.Would recommend a dark beer...with the meal.Would come back here again.

I prefer to try local dishes whevener travelling, however this was the only place I’ve found in Cologne centrum that served typical German food for vegetarians (actually it was even vegan). Had a nice curry sausage with fries, amazing aioli and of course Kölsch beer....The staff was super accommodating and the view of the Rhine was a nice bonus. Ver carta

We have not eaten there YET, but would love to, next visit to Cologne. We went in for a late night hot drink the day before my birthday. We considered eating there for my birthday, reasons being it was a very cosy, friendly little place...but we had booked somewhere else bigger. The next day though, my birthday, after our dinner elsewhere, we returned to Herings just for a last birthday drink. The proprietor brought my drink out with a party piece sparkler sang me a happy birthday, husband in tow! Was so nicely done. When my husband came to pay the bill,he was told there was nothing to pay, as it was my birthday! Inspiring little place. I wish I HAD Chosen there to eat now. Their review rati...

Very cozy and inviting, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. The rooms decorations were plentiful and appropriate, I even found some amusing. eg.christmas hat wearing fish. Hands down my favourite things there was thr gamba set. Prawns covered in a delicious chili sauce with...bread and aioli on the side. Prawns and perfectly cooked and the sauce is flavoursome yet just slightly spicy, leaving me only a tingle of pain on my lips. If you're coming in december with families and friends, I highly suggest the mussel platter. Fresh mussels with onions and a salty broth makes for a great appetizer. The...interior is very traditional, wood panelled walls, great decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this tavern both inside and when the weather is good outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Frankenwerft.
