"Since we travel a lot we visit a lot of restaurants, and this is one of the best we 've had the pleasure of visiting. It 's in a very old but beautifully restored building in Lucignano, Tuscany with rough-hewn beams on the ceiling and antique photos and artifacts decorating the rough stone and gleaming white plaster walls, while the white tablecloths, china, glasses and cutlery are modern and spotless. The chef/owner, Marcello Varignani, is cheerful and friendly and the food is superb. We were taken there by a friend who has a villa near Lucignano and so we had a full Italian-style dinner: appetizers, first course pasta dishes, second course meat dishes, and dessert, followed by coffee, and all accompanied by delicious wine from their amazing cellar. Since our friend was bringing us there for the first time he arranged for each of us to choose our preference for each course from the menu, and then had each selection divided into three portions so we could each sample every selection. Thus we all had an enormous variety of delectable taste experiences, ranging from a spinach souffle in a rich cream sauce to tagliatelle in a sauce with duck and truffles. We departed so stuffed we felt obliged to walk the circular main street around the inside of the city wall before returning to our car for the drive home, commenting all the way on the remarkable dining experience. One could readily consider moving to the area just to be able to enjoy dinner at La Rocca on a regular basis. I 'm sorry the review format doesn 't allow for a six- or seven-star rating, as La Rocca would certainly justify it!"

"This place is really a refreshing gem in a city with such traditional restaurants! The decor was very modern but with a 60/70s flair to it, with mismatched tables and concrete walls. It was a great setting to be eating in. We had a delicious Chianti wine, and for food, everyone at the table was super happy with what they got. I had such a innovative take on the traditional Caesar salad inside a Parmesan taco to start, then a delicious filled pasta as a first and tasty beef as my main. Innovative take on traditional Italian cuisine that you could tell took lots of dedication to perfect!"

Ribollita fantastica,profumata e saporita e pici col ragù bianco di cinta senese, altrettanto piena di sapore ma delicata La tagliata ottima con contorno spinaci e patate fritte, croccanti fuori e morbide dentto. "a little by chance in an evening of a very hot summer we came across in this restaurant which is actually also a hotel. Large outdoor space even if not well-kept and various internal locations. Service concerned but not competent and sub-numbered. Varied menu with excellent Tuscan dishes. Well indeed more than well the appetizer, to choose appetizer boxes that is really superlative. Very well Florentine steak of extreme quality that we have taken with truffle even if the price is a little over the average. Very bad fruit.... that has embarrassed me for the total absence of quality and how it was presented. The property does not have its own parking but practically in front there is a huge beach where you can park quietly. The service is quick even if it is for the position and also because some dishes are really superlative there is good turnout. Overall I promote it even though some serious deficiencies make it drop from various points in my personal scale. To improve prices, staff, organization and fruit desserts that are a bit lacking. To be promoted to full appetizer votes and meat really top."
