"Nice location outside in a piazza but, all in all, a shambles. No menu. We were told to find it on the internet via a website. Antipasto a version of panzanella and chicken liver crostino were, well, rustic at best. The chicken liver was overpowering. Pici with duck ragu was almost inedible, the pasta massively undercooked with the texture of rubber. The duck ragu was overpowering. The only saving grace was a juicy suckling pig dish. Hence the 2 stars. Service was busy and friendly. Their strap line claims to serve the forgotten dishes of the Valdichiana. I would happily forget most of what we ate. You'll find similar cuisine, cooked with greater care, elsewhere."

"Consiglio vivamente questa trattoria. Ribollita fantastica,profumata e saporita e pici col ragù bianco di cinta senese, altrettanto piena di sapore ma delicata La tagliata ottima con contorno spinaci e patate fritte, croccanti fuori e morbide dentto. Una vera delizia casareccia Il servizio è veloce e ben curato.Alla fine della cena abbiamo salutato il proprietariocon la promessa di rivederci."

"I was for the first time in this place pushed by the great reviews and also by the word of friends who had enchanted me the excellent food, and sincerely or because the expectations were too high or because an evening not, we were not really excited. "Since we travel a lot we visit a lot of restaurants, and this is one of the best we 've had the pleasure of visiting. It 's in a very old but beautifully restored building in Lucignano, Tuscany with rough-hewn beams on the ceiling and antique photos and artifacts decorating the rough stone and gleaming white plaster walls, while the white tablecloths, china, glasses and cutlery are modern and spotless. The chef/owner, Marcello Varignani, is cheerful and friendly and the food is superb. We were taken there by a friend who has a villa near Lucignano and so we had a full Italian-style dinner: appetizers, first course pasta dishes, second course meat dishes, and dessert, followed by coffee, and all accompanied by delicious wine from their amazing cellar. Since our friend was bringing us there for the first time he arranged for each of us to choose our preference for each course from the menu, and then had each selection divided into three portions so we could each sample every selection. Thus we all had an enormous variety of delectable taste experiences, ranging from a spinach souffle in a rich cream sauce to tagliatelle in a sauce with duck and truffles. We departed so stuffed we felt obliged to walk the circular main street around the inside of the city wall before returning to our car for the drive home, commenting all the way on the remarkable dining experience. One could readily consider moving to the area just to be able to enjoy dinner at La Rocca on a regular basis. I 'm sorry the review format doesn 't allow for a six- or seven-star rating, as La Rocca would certainly justify it!"

"This was one of the best meals I have ever had in a restaurant. The food was exceptional and the outstandingly low prices made it an evening not to be forgotten! We had Ostematto, a mix of all the appetisers, to start. Then wonderful handmade pici, followed by slices of beefsteak fillet cooked as ordered. We finished with some amazing desserts including a perfect chocolate soufflé. The house wine is a sturdy local Chianti. Very good coffee. The bill was very, very low for what we had and was great value for the money. The restaurant is a combination of very modern and retro design in a beautiful building with unplastered brick walls. It is very comfortable and has a great atmosphere. The staff deserve special praise very prompt and courteous. They told us the restaurant is new but if it continues like this it will get a Michelin star pretty soon it serves VERY good food! The restaurant is just off the main street in Monte San Savino, but badly needs signage; we nearly missed it even though the village is very small!"
