"What a wonderful dog friendly establishment, the team were so welcoming on our arrival for a two night stay with our two beardies. From the moment we stepped inside nothing was too much trouble for the team there. We were shown to a wonderful double en suite bedroom which looked out onto the local park. Everything you need for your dogs is provided and the Humana don’t do badly either with fresh fruit available on the landing. They also stocked decaf tea and coffee which was welcomed as we’d forgotten to take any and unfortunately I can’t drink caffeine. The restaurant has a great selection of meals from their menu and we tried a number of mains including the hanging kebabs, cheese and onion pie, fish chips and the steak and ale pie. The large cheeseboard is a thing of beauty but beware it’s a bit of a beast to tackle. There are fantastic walks onto the Howgills from the pub. This has to be a must for dog owners looking for somewhere they can go with their dogs. Thanks to Kenni and Fiona and their team for making us feel so welcome and valued. Also beware of the Tibetan monster called Paddy he will lick you to death !!"

Me and my family always visit this fab pub every time we come to Keswick. The staff are really friendly and the food is delicious too! It’s always nice to see dog friendly pubs too. The paninis are well worth a try!

Lovely homely pub situated right by the river. Fiona and the staff welcomed us like locals. Superb beer, food a great ambience. Fiona even offered us a lift back to our B B. We enjoyed a splendid evening, this pub is a real must if you are are in the area.

The Sunday lunch at this restaurant was fantastic, offering a selection of Sunday roasts in addition to their regular daily menu. They also had vegetarian options available. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. They even welcomed our dog with open arms.

We've been back at the camp site in Ravesntonedale this week and the Kings Head has been a saviour through the rubbish weather Great food, lads of games for the kids to play, staff are lovely and we have had a thoroughly enjoyable time Local ales and even local gins Perfect place to spend some relaxing time Ver carta

Outstanding! We’ve stumbled upon the Kings Head whilst walking, a couple of times now. It’s just fabulous! Wow! The food is fantastic, seasonal and great value for money the pies are something else! Staff are attentive, welcoming and extremely hospitable. They know what they’re doing. We will be back! Thank you so much.

Very disappointing, in short because we were a large party we were asked to order in advance, which meant that no sooner had we sat down that our food arrived, not even time to get comfy. The food felt like it had been waiting around for a while, a bit dry. Also one of my daughters accidentally broke a glass and the maitre de handed her a dustpan in the middle of dinner. Not the most welcoming of pubs for food I'm afraid. The night before we ate at the Fat Lamb.

The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, but unfortunately, the food was not up to par. I ordered the mushroom soup, which was supposed to be the chef's special, but it was very watery and had too much cream. I couldn't even finish it. The main course was a dhal pie with a bland brown gravy and overcooked peas. The apple crumble for dessert was lacking in crumble and only came with a small amount of custard. Overall, the service was also lacking. It was a disappointing dining experience. Ver carta

I stayed at this restaurant for one night as a pit stop on my way back from North Scotland. It was a fantastic place and I would give it 6 stars if I could. The location by the river in a quiet village was perfect. I had dinner and stayed overnight, and all the food was amazing with generous portions. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean. The restaurant is 700 years old and has a boutique style upstairs that is tastefully done. It is dog-friendly, with the owner's dog lounging around the bar area. I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this place!

Fabulous two night stay at the Kings Head . As soon as we walked in the atmosphere was relaxed ,and the log fire was burning, the staff were warm and welcoming . Everywhere was tastefully decked in Halloween pumpkins and candles, so cosy. The rooms are beautiful and extremely clean . The food was excellent, and the staff were so friendly, they made you feel that you'd known them for years ,even our dog felt at home . Thankyou to Kate and Charlotte ,who made my birthday special, by singing Happy birthday and bringing me a cake and glass of Champagne . Thankyou to Alex who looked after us too . Finally thankyou to Kenni for opening such a fabulous place, and your hospitality . We will highly r...
