"we have eaten here a few times on our first trip to gengenbach and also on the last trip. once we ate in the beer garden. no one was there and we waited and waited and finally a man came out. I couldn't say if he was rude or just tried to be funny. it was a difficult experience to accept our order. next time we ate in. there are two inside parts - the bar and the restaurant. the bar is clearly the main venue. when we sat down, two women played video games. no one came back. we went, but we saw nowhere else in the city where we wanted to eat this evening, so we went back. the two women were still there, they showed us that we had to ring what we did, and the waitress came. that was in order. the first time I had blown and the woman had a salami cheese sandwich. the second time I had half a chicken and pommes. they kicked the chicken and it had an excellent crispy skin. I also had pommes - too many to eat. the woman had bratwurst and potato salad. the food was good and the price was excellent. I don't know if smoking is allowed in the restaurant, but it was clear in the bar and the smoke traveled to the restaurant, so if they don't like the smoke smell, the inside restaurant is not the right place for them."

Service: Dine in Ver carta

a simple address. at the entrance of the town of gengenbach, situated on the foot of a city gate along the river, native friends and good laune who is present at the tournaments, comes in mood brigitte in the kitchen and jessica at the service are making a censure. on the terrace it is cool. simple kitchen certainly, but a very nice amount on the teller. really to discover a typical German moment "with the family".

"because many of the reviews of schatull are favourable, I hesitate to present a negative report, as our experience was perhaps anomaly. However, I think it is important to share our observations. we arrived in shady and sat within minutes. the waiter. has our beverage order and meals order at the same time. I have found on the menu on the meals we wanted and that the meal does not contain mushrooms (my wife is allergic). my wife's place was made of a dirty knife and no fork when the waiter immediately brought our drinks, he delivered clean space settings for both of us so far so good. in the meantime some guests came shortly after the did there were some occupied tables that we could see from our point of view. fast forward an hour we didn't see the waiter again (I would at least like to order a second beer while we waited). we ran only a little time due to an earlier engagement so that we had the waiter up and asked for the updating of our meal times, which he said: “They come”. the manager stopped by and asked if we had ordered food, apparently our order was never turned into the kitchen. when we were out of time, my wife told them that they forgot the meal; then the waiter said we never ordered the meal. we paid for the drinks and left (it would have been nice if they did not calculate us for those we was wasting for an hour of our time). By the way, during this one-hour period was the only eating that was delivered to one of the other tables, an salat, so it seems clear that there was a problem in the kitchen that was connected by the incompetent service."

"Romance to the wedding day: arrival, feel comfortable, enjoy. That was the plan for dinner at our wedding day. A first "Beautiful Good Evening" to change a few friendly words and immediately you feel: Here you will be welcomed as a guest and prepared for a culinary evening. Arriving at the table in the tastefully decorated restaurant of the Hotel “Die Reichsstadt” we experienced the next surprise. The receptionist accompanied us to a cordially covered two table, where we were congratulated on our wedding day by means of a small slate table and a bottle of champagne, although I had not explicitly asked for it when booking. A nice attention, we've been very happy about. The professionally excellently trained waiter also welcomed us and helped us with his kindly reluctant way to assemble the drinks for our menu. We started with bread specialties, butter salt and an oil tincture with the following greeting from the kitchen, a delicious corn crème brûlée. From the rich menu, my wife chose a Hokkaido pumpkins with mango and brook savor, seasonal I chose a field salad with bacon and cracherle. We chose two classics for the main dish. My wife loves bathy onion roasts from the beef ridge, which was served with hints and vegetables, and a semi-dry red wine from the Durbacher Kochberg. I preferred the Badische Zanderfilet with apple sour wort and potato puree, and the upper recommended a mild Riesling from Orteau. The visual highlights were as often the two desserts served. The lady enjoyed a gingerbread souffle with Bratapfelsorbet and I chose a Café Gourmand consisting of an espresso and a dessert variation (see photo). During the enjoyment of the treasures, the staff was consistently attentive and thus rounded off our good overall impression. The tangible history of the former Reichsstadt Gengenbach with its lively culture and its dreamy streets are already spraying your very personal romance. The Humm ́lisch-led hotel with restaurant takes up the charm of the city and spoils its guests with culinary treats and value-adding ambience, so as to have the need to come back as a visitor."
