"Friendly, unpretentious and good And also open on a Monday where most ‘ better ‘ restaurants seem closed Easy cooks via email A bit off the beaten track but within a 10 min cab ride from the centre A seasonal menu ein 4/5 or 6...courses, if you want a la carte- not here- not a problem but would be helpful if this was easy noted on the website- I did not but did not mind We took the 4 courses for 80 € which was enough and god value it came with two amuse bouchee and was all good at parts excellent- all very seasonal, creative and not easy to guess from the menu Wine selection by the glass is good and whilst not cheap if you ask nicely you get a top up.... There was an prestarter centred around celery and celeriac which set the theme and was 10/10 it had a few molekular bits thrown in for good measure Home made dark and white bread also excellent The first starter oxtail with salsify was solid and had an excellent sauce I would have liked more of this sauce 8/10 Second starter was a crayfish that went wintery by being paired with oat roots and parsnip purée- an outstanding dish with plenty of earthy aroma I would have eaten that even vegetarian 10/10 Local venison perfectly pink with a lovely jus again a little more please) was the last main this was my favourite but then I love venison 10/10 Service from Kellner was knowledgeable and helpful, his second small restaurant there are only two) is not fully up to Michelin level which could be a problem when they are full an example could be asking for aperitifs, I said yes a dry martini with lemon which sch e had no concept of- but she was also not able to offer an alternative Cheese board from Waltmann in erlangen with free top up is unbeatable perhaps a few grapes or some quince... My daughter had the sweet dessert and equally loved it- with the honey ice cream her favourite element Sampled three wines my favourite a German sweet Riesling with the cheese but the other two matched well even more remarkable as the Kellner does not like rose the lonely one they have on the menu is very good) A very nice evening- pricy for Nuernberg but well worth the money"
