"We visited this cheerful restaurant for lunch without a reservation, and we were lucky to get in. By 1pm, it was full. ( Partly because a bicycle club of 35+ came in just after us, with reservations.). We were treated like old friends by the husband and wife who recently took over. He went over his menu in great detail, helped us choose a bottle good local Beaujolais (Fleurie I think). My husband had the lunch menu, a great bargain for 15 euros: mixed salad, red trout in a light sauce with rice and asparagus, frommage blanc, a piece of strawberry tart, and a cafe. Almost everyone around us was having the same menu. To be different, I chose the menu at 29 euros, which had a number of choices for each of 3 courses. I had a more elaborate mixed salad, fresh local fish with potatoes gratin and asparagus, and a strawberry vacherin with meringue crust. We were both pleased not only with the quality and bargain prices, but especially with the attentive friendly service (I can't believe the bicyclists were served so promptly while the rest of us had such good service too!)Our only big disappointment came a few days later, when we arrived for a final lunch before leaving the area, only to discover that the Auberge is closed Wednesday's."

"A Michelin star, a Chef trained by the best, a personal touch based on a certain acidity of the dishes and you have the winning formula! The setting is polished, classy, ​​plush, served by wait staff who are attentive to customers, smiling and very efficient. The cuisine is a mixture of traditional dishes (Bresse poultry, pollack or foie gras) to which Chef Mérot has brought his rather modern and daring touch . Not everything is up to expectations, which makes the quality of the menu quite uneven. The highlight of the “Marguerite Chabert” menu at €75 is undoubtedly the special oyster, with sweetbreads. A real taste gem! The wines are at very reasonable prices which allows you to vary the pleasures while remaining below the very high price for our taste food and wine pairing 5 glasses at 65€... Please note: Still water costs €5. The Auberge du Cep fully deserves its star and the quality/price ratio is one of the best in the region. A very good address !"

"We stayed for one night in August with our two Westies! Fist impression were good,nice reception area,and a lovely dining room. However for 165 euros (room only) I expected slightly more than just a room the size of a storeroom! We had travelled over 250 miles,and although the weather was cloudy it was still nearly 30 degrees,so we fancied a swim in the outdoor pool,unfortunately for some reason we couldn't as the pool cover was on! Dinner was ok,although when having aperitifs on the terrace ,we had to ask for an ice bucket,not once but twice for our bottle of wine,needless to say it still didn't arrive,so I had to take someone else's when they had left their table,not ideal for a place with such high standards."
