"Best choice restaurant in Milford-on-Sea. Simple and honest. Quality. Mushroom arancino as pre-starter was flavorful but a bit mushy. Excellent bread. Very tasty gravlax on a bed of tasteless spinach with Swedish style sweet mustard sauce. Blini doesn’t add. Skip leaves and blini and substitute with thin Danish or Åland style rye instead. Add pickled fennel or similar? Crispy chunky sea bass on a bed of semi mashed potatoes and braised broccoli over a deep rich bisque with crayfish bits. Balanced and tasty throughout. Spot on. Tortellini with intense mushroom in cream plus plentiful almost char-grilled broccoli tenderstem. Very good. Tried both deserts, very different but both excellent. Crunchy side splrinkle boosted both. Had four different wines by the glass. White pecorino was excellent, crisp and fresh. NZ Sauv Blanc tasted like a Riesling but OK. Two reds, Syrah and Malbec, were not impressive, both bland and ethanol dominating. Service was excellent. Overall very happy."

Hidden gem. I had the spring tasting menu and was not expecting how good it was! Arrived around noon with only a few people there but within an hour it was pretty full the service however did not suffer. Will definitely return.

Treated my husband to lunch yesterday. Glad we booked as all tables taken Always a lovely atmosphere. Food a delight, beautifully presented. All came out at the right time. I had previously enjoyed a raspberry bomb, this time we had the Amaretto semiFreddo, wow, so delicious. Totally recommend.

What an absolute find, a real gem. Really relaxed environment with very pleasant and helpful staff. Delicious food with interesting flavours. The chef/patron Sam is a delightful young man. When I asked the waitress how the chef prepared the very tasty couscous which accompanied a very delicious pork dish, they indicated he would come out and tell us, true to his word he did. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening, we'll be back.

impromptu jubiläumsessen. well, we couldn't make it better! what a fantastic meal. how can they have so much amazing eating for such a small price on the lunch special. my man tried haggis for the first time and loved it. we both really enjoyed the roasted sea bass that was cooked for perfection and was accompanied by a fantastic lobster sauce. what a super tasty bite right in front of our doorstep. we recommend to visit la perle for a really wonderful culinary joy.

"My mate and I met at the pub for a quiet lunchtime beer and chat..it was great to see him as we had not seen each other for years and need to catch up on news... All we got was pressure and hassle from the...staff. We had our beers..two minutes later one staff member arrived asking if we needed more drinks??..No thank you...Two minutes later another staff member arrived..You gents ok??..Can I get you more drinks??....Our beer was barely touched..No thank you we are fine.. Two minutes later another staff member arrived ...Can I get you more drinks?? Then a young man arrived..Are you gents dining with us??.. we had not planned to eat, just have a beer .. Do you have sandwiches??...No we don't was the answer. Five minutes later another question if we had ordered food??.. Different staff member arrived time after time, every few minutes to ask if we needed more drinks or if we were ordering food... We ordered food we didn't want...It was nothing special..Usual pub food that is quickly forgettable..Not great food..mediocre. Only then did the hassle stop and we were left alone to have a chat. I know there is not much profit in beer...Pubs make their money on food. But the restaurant area was not busy...We were not sat in the restaurant dining area..The table was not made up with cutlery ready for diners..No further customers were sat in our area...The table was NOT required for diners. IT IS A PUB!!...People to go pubs to drink beer and spirits, read a book, chat to other folk, play cards, read a newspaper...It a place of social gathering. All we got was hassle and pressure. I do not often write reviews..Far less write a poor report..I much prefer to give praise and say things were excellent. We shall NOT return.. Incidentally, I do know and like good food..The previous evening I dined in a pub where the chef was a past winner of the TV programme MasterChef ...However, this pub food was mediocre..."
