"I don’t recognise the negative reviews on here. We used to live nearby and went regularly. We have just been back for the first time in a decade. The place is as good as ever. The menu is classic French cuisine. Across the board the food is very good. We had the onion soup, salmon terrine, cheese quiche, lamb, coq au vin, steak frites, crème brûlée everything was delicious. The drinks are expensive though. There is an extensive wine list but very few bottles available at under £40. And the service was a little slow. That’s why I am awarding 4 stars, not 5."

Frankly completely overpriced for food that you could make better at home. Ambience was nice but the elder clientele told you all you need to know living on past glories. Service was not great either.

As always the food in great and the service too. Prices are high but really worth it. Wines a bit overpriced but again worth the try. It s better ambience at night inside and outside for midday. There is a formule of 36gbp with many options to choose

You enter the most charming french restaurant with a true countryside ambiance. The menu is very traditional with coq au vin, onion soup, beef bourgignion and steak au frites clear favorites. You can order a la carte or 2 or 3 plats. The prices are very reasonable, the food delicious and the service very French. Ver carta

Gallic flare results in a brusque, busy welcome (even if not busy) and perfectly pleasant but overpriced. The dishes are rich in cream and butter but tasty enough. Portion size modest. Wine and drinks avg prefer premium tonic with gin, (Schweppes no longer cuts it) and house rosé very average. Full of locals who are clearly engaged in this local venue but won't be rushing back.

Even though it was a lovely summer night, we opted to dine indoors as the interior is like going back in time. From mismatched chairs and baskets hanging from the ceiling to candles dripping wax in their sticks, we felt like we went back 200 years. The food was very good. We had the escargot (not tough), steak frites and salmon. Everything was well-prepared and served by friendly staff.

Strolled past this place many times and thought about going in! I finally got round to it and was pleasantly surprised! Always wondered why it looked so dark inside! But its not because they don't pay their energy bills, its just a case of making a nosh-up more romantic! Had a beautiful French stew and apple tart with Chantilly cream into the bargain! Real French restaurant! Quelle surprise!! Ver carta

Was part of a party of 10 seated in basement for a Friday lunch prior to Billy Joel in Hyde park. It was a very hot day so basement was lovely and cool. They managed the numbers well with friendly but professional service. I had the French onion soup (excellent] and the steak and frites. Well cooked steak decent peppercorn sauce. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. Waiter tried to sell the table anything but the tarte tatin so many had that. It was fine. Good meal. I’d be happy to go back again.

We flew in from Dublin, checked into our hotel, and were starving for a decent meal by 4pm. We had a later rez but called and the owner said Yes, come now! So we walked over and let me tell you, what a fabulous experience! We were warmly greeted, immediately seated in the charming front room, and enjoyed one of the best meals during our 3 week stay in the UK. I had the house special (Poule au pot), my friend had steak frites. Perfection! Service was prompt and gracious. We felt very welcomed. Highly recommend.

"The decor of the restaurant is really lovely. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. We placed our orders quite briskly. We received complimentary bread and olives, which was a nice touch. Our Bruchetta starter arrived a whole hour after we arrived, which was disappointing and far too long to wait for a cold and easy starter. The menu did not specify that the prawns on one of the bruschettas were raw! The waiter said service was slow because they were busy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Clearly not prioritising paying customers, who pay a 12.5% service charge, unlike online customers. Eventually, our main courses arrived. My pasta was only just cooked, so close to being undercooked and hard. They ran out of ricotta and replaced it with the tiniest amount of cheese so I asked for some more. Since ricotta was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The tuna steak was lovely, and the veal could have done with a thinner breadcrumb batter. The sides, chips and zucchini, were £4.50 and very small portions for such a cheap side. So that was slightly disappointing. Overall, the pinot grigio white wine was very drinkable, and they brought tap water when we asked for it. And the whole staff were very polite. It was a shame the service was so slow, and the food could have been better for the price that it was. We also felt it was overpriced for the location it was, zone 2 London and not in the West End."
