"We ate (2 couples on a visit to Arles) on two occasions in l'Affenage. Excellent food, first class friendly service and an interesting ambience in what appeared to be an old farm building, though close to the town centre. My partner and I had the foie de veau which was delicious. On the second evening I had the tuna, also first rate. A wide variety if starters also. For dessert the tarte tatin was outstanding . Overall very good value indeed. We will go back when next in Arles!"

superb restaurant, typical decoration. Excellent quality/price. Meat is succulent. you have to have a good appetite to take a menu, the entry is consistent. I recommend Ver carta

Disappointed. Greasy food. Main meal arrived partially frozen. We were charged for desserts that never arrived. Host only interested in looking after his friends. Don’t waste your time or your money.

perfect ... we were 6 , everybody it's feast , entries to share , on the coast of roasted beef with the fire of wood to the perfect cooking , coast of calf bits , the tuna , and , to finish , homemade desserts , everything was perfect ... add to this a caring service and a very nice room , we only have one desire , it's to come back ... a very good value for money, also the quantity is huge. The plates are copied with tasteful dishes. When the beef rib cooked in front of you in the wood fire is a marvel and enormous, more than 1kg for 2. The service is friendly. There's everything to make a great evening. The wine list is poor but sufficient for served dishes. Good tasting

Super friendly service. Very efficient. Ordered the €24 menu. So much food! Started with raviolis and a burrata and heirloom tomato salad. Raviolis were simple with a creamy pesto sauce. Tomatoes were flavorful. Special rotisserie chicken with morel mushrooms and roasted potatoes was excellent. Bull stew was very hearty. Only had room to split one dessert. Only downside was that we had to sit inside and it was a bit warm. But we hadn’t made reservations, so we were ok with it.

"This restaurant is part of a hotel in a very impressive 16th century building. It looks very classy. However, the night we were there, there must have been some serious problems in the kitchen (or maybe it is always like that . We started with a shared plate of charcuterie which took a long time to arrive – how long does it take to arrange the cold meats on a plate? We then waited a very, very long time for our main courses. While waiting, we saw a dispute at another table involving the maître d’ and resulting in plates going back to the kitchen. We had both ordered duck à l’orange which came with Camargue rice. The rice appeared to have been baked in the oven and was so crisp and dry that it resembled a cereal bar. The ‘orange’ was not the usual sauce, but instead was four cubes of orange that appeared to have been scorched on a grill. They added nothing to the dish. It had been suggested that we should share a side of seasonal vegetables. These turned out to be big chunks of boiled potatoes (with rice! , a boiled root vegetable and a couple of dry artichokes. We had interchanges with two servers and the maître d – all were cold and brusque. We lived in France for more than 20 years and appreciate the fact that the French like to take their time with meals, but there is a big difference between leisurely and glacially slow. Perhaps we were there on a bad night, others seem to have had a better experience."
