"A wonderful carvery meal, beautifully cooked and served by amazing staff. And, completely dog friendly. Fantastic. After coming to CenterParcs at Whinfell for many years with family, we are now able to visit as a couple with our beloved Golden Retriever. The Lakeside Inn is exceptionally dog friendly and we are just back to our doggy lodge after a really lovely meal and dining experience. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. We were shown to a cosy table beside the fire and immediately a bowl of cool water and some doggy biscuits were brought over to us. All of the staff made a huge fuss of our dog, Wilson, as did a fair number of other diners ! The meal was delicious, and Wilson was given a bowl of sliced beef from the carvery all to himself. A lovely touch by the staff. Thank you all so much and hope to see you again soon."

Had a lovely meal last week whilst on holiday. Burger was nicest burger I have had in ages service was really good. Had to wait a bit for coffees at the end but waitress sorted it. Brilliant with the kids too weren’t rushed even though some of our party were bit late to get there.

Family group of 14 for an evening meal on a busy Saturday. We had a wide variety of food from the menu (starters mains); I personally had the tomato soup (very flavoursome) and fish and chips (also had flavour cooked to perfection). I considered the price to be very reasonable given the location of the Park in relation to non Centre establishments. A place is only as good as its Staff Tracy Aaron amazing!! Ver carta

All of our party had the carvery so I can’t comment on the rest of the menu. We had really good seats close to the lake but some of the other areas did seem a bit crowded. Carvery was lovely, hot and fresh and plenty of everything. Chef came over to chat after our meal and he was lovely, clearly enjoyed his work. Free Ella’s kitchen for our granddaughter and she was given a choice of flavours which was nice.

Went to have the last meal of our holiday and I couldn’t recommend The Lakeside Lodge more. My little girl fell asleep and missed her tea, the staff took it and offered to make her fresh if she woke up or a change of meal so that we could take it home and reheat it for her safely. They even removed the meal from the bill which was above and beyond! They also brought her dessert to take away too. The care and compassion was wonderful. Special mention to our server, James S and the assistant manager, Tracy! What a wonderful team. Thank you!!

"We had a disappointing experience during our stay. The bedroom was quite cold, and despite asking for the heating to be turned on, we had to sit in our coats. The bathroom was freezing each morning, and the dining room didn't offer much relief either. The heating was activated for just one hour, which meant the radiator was cold again when we returned to our room. Their cost-cutting measures significantly impacted our enjoyment. We raised our concerns multiple times, but there was no one available when we settled the bill. At £100 per night for bed and breakfast (totaling over £200 including dinner), it was frustrating to be so uncomfortable. Another guest mentioned they had complained about the heating during their previous visit, only to be told there was an ongoing issue. It seems they simply won’t turn on the heating. We won’t be returning, especially since it’s quite a drive to get into town. Regarding the room, we were assigned an attic room (Room 8). It had many steep stairs and low headroom in places. While the bathroom was nice, it was also freezing. The towel rail was pointless since it was stone cold, and my husband had to skip his morning shower due to the chill. We ended up moving to Room 7, which was smaller but slightly warmer despite having a cold bathroom. The bathroom door didn’t shut properly, and the lights were all or nothing. The next morning, we moved our belongings back to Room 8 since they finally decided to turn on the electric wall heater—which they could have done from the outset. It only took the chill off for a little while. On our last night, we experienced a brief boost of heat, but it only lasted an hour. When we returned after dinner, the room was already cool again. As for nearby activities, there’s a park across a busy road, but everything else requires driving to reach shops and restaurants. Safety-wise, the hotel faces a main road, and there are very few parking spaces available (around four); otherwise, you need to park on the main road. Walking to town is possible, but it takes about 15 to 20 minutes downhill. In terms of food and drinks, the breakfast was decent. When asked if we wanted toast, we received just one slice on the same plate as the cooked breakfast. After asking for more, we had to wait a while before we were given another slice. Dinner was acceptable but nothing to write home about; it felt overpriced compared to the excellent authentic Indian restaurant we found in town, which served great food at better prices and opened at 5 PM. Overall, I'd recommend bringing warm clothes for both the bedroom and dining area; we even saw another guest sitting in her coat the entire time."
