we had a cozy evening in this beautiful local restaurant in Molitg-les-Bains. the staff was incredibly friendly and warm and the food was excellent, fresh and interesting. it was so nice to mix with locals. Thank you.

came here to lunch and the host, cook and staff were so warm and with gusto! we were the steak and lamb shafts and were excellent! the kartoffels were local agricultural products and were delicious. every lunch will come back when we stayed longer in this beautiful opposite of south France.

There being no restaurant on Sundays at LeGrand Hotel, we made our way up the hill to Le Royal. Friendly service, marvellous plat meat or fish then cod or prawns containing a vast medley of everything. Delightful atmosphere and very good value euros incl a carafe). Highly recommended. Worth a detour.

I have been enjoying royals excellent and unique lunch for many years. we were back after a break of a few years. eating is as excellent as never, if not better. we enjoyed every bite of the assiette du chef and the. welcome and hospitable that the owners. I also need to call the menu enfant as the best we had in France. eating is prepared as attentive as it is for all other homemade and quality ingredients. our child polished a huge steak and house made riders. we really look back in the fingers crossed.

I can't praise this jewel high enough. the service was humorous and incredibly friendly. the atmosphere was so friendly that we talked with several other couples in the restaurant that was eating delicious. in the round they simply command whatever it is that the cook wants to cook in this night. the parts are very large according to French standards. Avoid the too expensive and consistently inconspicuous dinner in the chateau de riell and go directly to this place for all their meals. and above all, make a reservation for dinner!

Le Royal is my favorite restaurant to visit in this part of France. The chef's plate (the size of a baking sheet) of the day has so many beautifully presented to tasty small dishes that you almost feel bad about destroying the appearance....Almost, I said...then you taste it and just dive in, savoring each lovely morsel. Service has always been great. This last visit, a young man had assumed the server role with an excellent demeanor and knowledge of the food. And it's cheap, for all that you get and for how good what you get is. Highly, highly recommended.

There are other reviews on trip advisor that relate similar experiences to ours so will keep this short- shocking rudeness from chef and waiter, told we have to order the food for the kids before we sit down, no menu available, only aurally from the...rude waiter who thought he was very amusing making a charade performance of what beef meant. The choice for kids seemed to be beef duck or fish that's it. No more said. With chips. How is it cooked? What sort of fish? We took more than seconds pondering whether to stay in this ridiculous place when thankfully the chef kicked us out telling us we took too long to decide what to give the kids! Amazing! My husband and I happened upon Le Royal Bar Tabac late one winter afternoon, while driving in the Pyrenees. It looked very ordinary from outside, and we would not have stopped had anything else been open, but we are SO glad we did! It was...standing room only inside, and we had to wait for a table...this, undoubtedly due to the enormous, beautiful, delicious and very reasonably priced dinners being served. Our plate contained a choice of lamb or beef (perfectly prepared), several fine cheeses, a variety of vegetables and salads, and tasty garnishes. Wine was good and inexpensive. OK, this made for an interesting meal and evening! The venue is part restaurant and bar with seating both within and outside and on the night we went, we plumped for outside. The outside area was not large and the table and chairs were quite...basic but comfortable enough while there was a mix of locals and ‘tourists’ mixed together giving it quite a pleasant ambiance. The menu choice is limited and basically given the prompting of the waiter even more so when he almost made it ‘Hobson’s choice’ by strongly recommending the ‘chefs plate’.
