Fantastic three course lunch menu at a reasonable price. Beautiful outdoor patio in the old section of Angouleme. We will return!

The food here was pleasant but the place and many of the people eating were rather up themselves. I wouldn't eat here again even though I enjoyed the food. Ver carta

Jamais déçu, c’est toujours avec plaisir que nous retournons aux Artistes. Des plats raffinés, un cadre chaleureux, c’est un plaisir à chaque fois renouvelé. Peut-être notre restaurant préféré à Angoulême.

C’est vraiment une excellente adresse, les plats sont fins et raffinés, la présentation parfaite et le service irréprochable. Je recommande vivement, nous nous sommes régalés et avons passé un très agréable moment. Bravo

Lugar pintoresco donde los haya en el casco antiguo de Angoulême, el restaurante Les Artistes es uno de los más visitados de la ciudad del cómic. Cálido y agradable, siempre puedes elegir entre diversas sugerencias del día que componen el menú. Éste te da a elegir entre tres entrantes, tres platos y tres postres. La comida es fabulosa, sencilla y riquísima. Si eres de buen comer y valoras la buena gastronomía, éste es tu lugar. Además puedes comer por poco menos 17€ sus fantásticos menús. Ver carta

We had dinner a few days ago at this restaurant in Carcassonne. Incredibly, the restaurant with about 15 tables is attended by a single person, who is in charge of cooking, taking orders, serving the tables, etc. Taking this into account, the result is positive, but if the obvious, we had to wait a long time for the food to be brought to us, the menu was limited with only two options and some dishes were cold to have them prepared in advance. The woman was pleasant and professional. The price was a little high and the portions a little small, but this is normal in France. We were able to go with our dogs and he gave them water as soon as they arrived. A hug

Don't be put off by the review elsewhere that talks about the grumpy host. The place and the patron both have character. We managed to find a table without having a reservation at about 8pm on a Saturday evening but we were lucky - a succession of other people came in later and were turned away. It is obviously a popular place and it's easy to understand why."No frites, no children's menu, no entrée without a plat/main course" - no problem. It is a very straightforward but quirkily French place, with low-key jazz music and decor in keeping with that. Like some others seem to have found, the host here was extremely rude. I speak French, and after asking if I could seat myself and his agreement, the menu of the day was brought for me to peruse. When he came back to take my order, I enquired as to whether the main of the day, stuffed tomatoes, was vegetarian. I was promptly told no, of course not, and that the restaurant had no vegetarian meals (both entree menu options appeared to be vegetarian), and that nowhere in Angouleme would either. I politely enquired what the tomatoes were stuffed with, as I do sometimes eat a little fish.
