"Having spent a number of holidays on various Greek islands over the years, I know a thing or two about Greek food. If you're looking for authentic Greek cuisine, give this place a miss. Apart from a very obnoxious and sarcastic waiter, the food was extremely bland. I always thought Moussaka was a dish made from lamb and contained aubergines, not made from beef with no aubergines! It was also served in a dish which led me to believe that it had been prepared in advance and stored in a fridge/freezer. The Meze was lacking a number of elements with a stingy single Dolmades (stuffed vine leaf) per person. The dips were also lacking in taste and may as well have been bought from a supermarket. "I was pleasantly surprised when we managed to secure a table at this restaurant before heading to the theater. The staff accommodated us despite the busy evening, and it was easy to see why the place was so popular. It seems that there are not many great dining options in Chesterfield, but this restaurant is a standout and we would definitely return. The food was exceptional; we ordered a variety of small plates to share and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions. We left feeling satisfied and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed, bustling, and welcoming, with the staff going out of their way to ensure a pleasant dining experience. This hidden gem is definitely worth a visit."

"thyme to eat is a pretty picturesque in the good wise little caffe set between the gasses in chesterfield city center. it serves a decent menu, with usually vegetarian options, but there are enough vegan choices not only in terms of meals, but also in terms of drinks and cakes. I had a bbq jackfruit pitta, from the “Specials” board, served with gazed kartoffels and a side salad. the food was great, the setting was nice, and the price was in-line with everywhere else. a really pleasant meal that made a change from the usual chain cafés and restaurants. a light criticism that I would make is that the charalate was much too big. Taste directions may vary, but this salate was enormous to be wasted. I ate as much as I could, but it was still much left I felt that the ratio of salat to the rest of the food was completely wrong, but that's just me."

"Where do I start... Ok we booked a table for 4 late in the day on a Saturday..happy to eat downstairs..arrived and was presented a table..drinks orders were taken..jug of water,glasses and a bottle of P.Grigio was eventually brought. Ordered platter for 2 and a couple of Bruschettas.Pizza and 3 Pasta dishes for main. Was visited by a kitchen member who questioned what we had ordered who explained that it was very busy and it shouldnt't be too long. We were offered a free drink..we said..no thank you but we were needing to speed things on a bit as we needed to get back for a pet that was on meds etc...Owner came through with a basket of dough stripps etc. Waited another while and we explained to the waiter that we were concerned about how long it was taking for the starters to arrive(1hr+ . For some reason a guy on the next able started piping up about what was our problem Owner turned up and mentioned that if we wanted fast food we should have gone to Macdonald's opposite.. Things escalated..Guy in next table started becoming abusive for some reason..The owner started getting on her high horse and asked us to leave,which we did...In my opinion the owner was bang out of order and was throwing abuse..The owner in fact grabbed my wife's arm, the waiter threatened to call the police.I stood back in amazement at what had become of a simple situation where we had questioned how long the starters had taken to arrive. A night well and truly spoilt by the actions of the owner and a customer who had no place to butt in when all we were questioning was the service we were receivin..been to Lambarellis before on a few occasions and has been acceptable food albeit over priced for the quality you receive.."

"My family has been coming to Blue Stoops for Christmas for years and we have always been happy with it, but this year was a letdown. The bar used to have a great selection of local artisan beers on tap, but this year there were only 3 standard beers. Our coffees and teas were served on a dirty-looking tray, setting a bad tone for the meal. Unfortunately, things did not improve. The starters and desserts were okay, but the main courses were disappointing. The turkey seemed to be deli meat, not fresh turkey. The mashed potatoes were cold and the roast potatoes were too hard to cut through. The stuffing was tough. Everyone in our group struggled to eat their meal. Our vegetarian member's meal was dry as she was not served vegetarian gravy. We were told that all the gravy on the table was vegetarian, which was surprising as we were not informed of this and had never seen vegetarian gravy served for everyone in other restaurants. One family member ordered cod and was told that the small portion of vegetables served with it was due to the high cost of fish. The service was friendly but very slow. After years of dining at Blue Stoops, it is unlikely that we will return in the future. What a shame!"
