"The food was delicious, the flavours, textures and portions were perfect. I had the duck to start (run don't walk), the pork main (WOW) and the apple and treacle tart to finish. My partner and I both had the pork belly which was melt in the mouth good, the combination of flavours from the pumpkin, butternut squash and the sauce were heavenly. The service was exceptional, Olivia and Emily were friendly and checked in on us enough to know we were being looked after without intruding on our meal. It's a small restaurant (approx 7 tables), the atmosphere was the perfect blend of busy but not crowded, with compliments to the chef floating in the air. We'll definitely be booking in advance (you have to) the next time we come to Whitby. "Breakfast was ok, my partner's toast was untoasted, he asked for toasted toast and they only brought 1 slice, seemed a bit stingy to not replace both slices. The rest of his breakfast was good. I asked for 3 items from extras menu as I have dietary limitations, they charged me £11 and the scrambled egg wasn't good at all, bland and watery, I just hope it wasn't made with milk as I'd informed them I was lactose intolerant. When I queried the £11 charge they said they'd charged me for bread which I didn't have so did refund me £1.50. Staff were lovely and the place had a nice relaxed vibe. Probably a nice place for coffee and cake as the lattes were fine and the cakes looked nice, but from my experience expensive for the quality and portions."

"Went here on Thursday 12th October. We have always loved going here but unfortunately we were disappointed with our visit this time. The prices had risen quite a lot since our last visit. We had regular Haddock and chips but felt it was rather bland, not as tasty as usual. The chips were well cooked, not greasy, but there were a lot of very thin bits. Definitely not up to the usual standard that we are used to here. We added bread and mushy peas but were given a bread bun , not the usual slices of bread. "Visited this place in 2018 and had a great lunch, never been able to get back in since as its always busy. Managed to book a table for Sunday and noticed how quiet it was. The food was average, add the price of the dishes and that average becomes poor. We had Lobster £50, halibut £38 and linguine £22. All fair prices if cooked to a high standard, however all three dishes were a little lack luster and not what we were hoping for. It may explain the reason it was quite ? The service was excellent, very attenuative and polite. They just need to get the food quality back up there !"
