Maison Bleue - Carta

This charming restaurant offers delicious food and excellent service from the staff. The wine selection is impressive and pairs well with the dishes. The service is fast and the food is of exceptional quality.

Really fabulous lunch. Great staff who moved us to a window table when it became vacant. Superb food and a lovely atmosphere. Great ambience generally. We both had the fish of the day main course which was gorgeous.

Really disappointing. Starter of french onion soup was watery and bland, oeufs cocottes had uncooked egg white and bland creamy sauce, main course fish didn't have crispy skin and chicken leg was tiny and sinewy. Real shame as I remember it being good but won't be back. Ver carta

Two friends, meeting up for a long overdue catch up. We enjoyed a beautiful and reasonably priced set lunch menu at this restaurant. The rabbit dish was especially delicious. The wine served by the glass was just right. We had a great time and I have since suggested this restaurant to others.

The soup was thin and the mussels were small in a disappointing tomato broth that did not improve a dreary Winter day in Edinburgh. The toilets located at the top of shaky stairs may have seemed charming in an urban way, but ultimately added to the overall negative experience. Even the cheerful waitress could not elevate the atmosphere of the restaurant.

A lovely cosy restaurant with a quirky edge that we liked. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a few things that meant the food wasn't quite elevated to a higher rating for this review. The squid surprise was by far the nicest starter. Main courses were okay but nothing particularly special. The staff were all really welcoming and friendly, but on balance the restaurant was not for us. Ver carta

Always been a favourite restaurant of mine, and the food didn't disappoint again. Squid followed by Rabbit was delicious. Had the set menu option late afternoon before heading to the airport. Let down a little by some disorganisation at the start of service; no cutlery, served stale bread from lunch service and dirty table and side plates. Food hit the mark nice to see the standards and quality are still there 10 years on from my first visit.

Possibly the most delicious 3 course dinner I’ve ever had as part of a large group. 30 of us were eating from the Christmas dinner menu and everyone’s meals were served beautifully hot (even the three that had to be held on to due to a plane delay! . We must have ordered every dish on the menu between us, and everyone raved about how delicious theirs was. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again and only wish it was nearer. Thank you Maison Bleue.

With a 25% off food we could not resist another visit to one of our favourite French restaurants in the heart of Edinburgh. It has a homely, quirky atmosphere. We chose the two course menu. Starters were delicious. I had the aubergine tower and hubby had the oof cocotte leek fondue. For main I had Tagine of lamb boulettes and hubby had steak. I don’t often eat meat but these meatballs in a lightly spiced bean sauce was amazing. Definitely recommend. In fact hubby wishes he had chosen that instead of steak! Service was excellent. Anna was brilliant. Knew when to chat and when to leave us. She’s multi lingual and can speak Spanish fluently with some German. All in all a very nice afternoon lea... Ver carta
