"A Lübeck visit without visiting the Café Niederegger is not possible, even if this is an absolute tourist hotspot. Apart from that, we had a shopping list, and several Daheimgebliebene wanted to give away at Christmas Lübecker Marzipan. And there's only a huge selection here. Thanks to Corona neither shop nor the café on the 1st floor were overflowing. No crowds, no bumps and pushes, as can be read in many reviews, relaxed shopping and even more relaxed café visits were announced. Here again precise checking of the vaccination and identification papers at the end of the stairs, in front of the café. There were actually some free tables where we could choose. The serviceman said at a later point in time that it was not really exhausted this afternoon, that it was used to quite different crowds of guests. Great, we were really lucky! We took place near the cake counter and looked around first: a cafe with large windows and a dense coffee house atmosphere and a beautiful view of the town hall when you have a window. Dear AndiH, you will probably see text passages over the cakes and pictures again, but I cannot save them to you! I was fascinated by the great offer on the ground floor. Above all, there are those who want to enjoy the cakes and cakes at home. Also here there are no mohren heads or Negerküsse anymore, here are the corresponding treats called Othello heads. And here in the café, of course, I went to the cake counter immediately. The selection of cakes was very large and one looked better than the next. Here you will be seduced to sin! So the selection was very difficult, I would like to try different cakes or cakes. I finally chose a piece of champagne cake for 3,80 €, as I had never tasted such one, and a coffee for 2,70 €. Yes, yes, proud prices! My friend, an absolute Marzipan fan, naturally chose something with a lot of marzipan (3,80 € , which would be a too dry cake for me, plus a milk coffee for 4,00 €. Flott and friendly was our service lady, she quickly brought the wish to us, wished us a lot of fun at the pie enjoyment and then we had both, my friend especially by the many marzipan. She was thrilled! Also my champagne cakes was a pleasure, very sweet and creamy, very rich in calories (Thanks to my hips God is nothing, very saturating, just heavenly! Too bad you can only eat a piece of this kind of cake. We didn't have to wait long for our bill too (I didn't find it at home unfortunately). Of course you pay a lot of money and of course you pay for the name. For us it was definitely worth a visit at that time. And then we were able to complete our shopping list without any pressure."

There is more pleasant place to return. After remodeling, we visited the Café Niederegger for the first time with our Marzipantorten girlfriend S. for the first time we had... The market hall-like getaway in the basement we left behind us as soon as possible, although there are quite adorable marzipan artworks to admire. But as a born Lübeckerin, I have known her forever, so they only impress me peripherally. After all, we managed to fight in the upper floor and to take a quick look at the wonderful cake buffet, but then first had to re-enter due to lack of space and second because of the enormous noise level. The stairway down was hardly fit, so massively the crowd of people took up from be...

"Luckily, Lübeck's old town is by no means poor at individual, perhaps even family-run cafes, which are not only branches of one of the dominant bakery chains, but also provide a much more personalized hospitality with their uniqueness and charm. I have already reported about a few, and in this collection, the Cafe Hansehof cannot be missed. The cafe is hidden in an inner courtyard that can be reached via the Wahmstraße. This location alone makes the cafe a secret tip for locals who long for a quiet time away from the crowds of tourists in the warm seasons, which of course come to the more exposed cafes. In addition to many seating in the inner courtyard, the interior located on two floors also delights the guest with a very lovingly designed interior, which has a lively and unique effect mainly due to many antique furnishings. This impression is also reflected in the mind of the operator pair. At lunch in May 2017, when I visited the Cafe Hansehof, the house owner Petra Roos took care of the service. The familial hospitality that she radiated on it immediately leads to a feeling of warm welcome that illuminates the mood and makes the stay all the more pleasant. In a nice conversation, I also learned that by 2015 she had already run a restaurant called Remise just a few houses away. After the termination of the lease, she (luckily for us Lübecker) remained the queen of the Hanse and has now found a new permanent place for her gastronomic heart project. In addition to cakes, breakfast arrangements and sandwiches, it is mainly an offer of many different hearty and sweet pancake dishes, which the Cafe Hansehof has written on the flags and has also become its flagship in Lübecker Gastronomy. These dishes also made me aware of the restaurant and should of course also be my food of choice. In the high north it certainly does not seem unusual that I chose a pancake creation with reference to the sea: a salmon pancake filled with smoked salmon, sour cream, fine apple slices, rag onions and some cream merrettich. (Please click on the picture to see it in the whole. I apologise for the not exactly good quality) salmon pancakes, filled with smoked salmon, sour cream, fine apple slices, rag onions and some cream horseradish. It was already noticed at the first touch that there was really thought about the composition and the court and this was prepared with just as much heart blood. The pancake dough was not too thick or too thin and made the filling tasteful space. There was no ingredient in this, but everything complemented each other in a very good relationship. The smoke aroma of the salmon, the light sweetness and acidity of the apple slices, the slight sharpness of the horseradish, the freshness of the Sour Cream and finally the bite through the onions. Only a small pinch of salt and maybe a few additional (maybe Dill suitable for salmon) would in my opinion be missing for a completely perfect composition. Even at the end of my visit, Fr. Roos concluded this with her great cordiality. After an interesting conversation about the pancake creation and their idea of specializing in such pancake dishes with the cafe, she actually didn't want to accept my tip because I was such a nice, friendly guest for you. Of course, I insisted on wanting to reward them for this great time in their cafe, but nevertheless: How often do you find such a hospitality nowadays? I just wish the Cafe Hansehof all the best and continued stability and success. I strongly recommend that everyone be convinced of the hospitality and the quality of food they have lived here. The cafe definitely deserves to be more than just a secret tip in the Lübecker Gastronomy ."
