"Firstly I’d like to say the Sunday beef platter was excellent so no complaints about the food. But a couple of the staff were arrogant and rude. A mistake was made with our booking even though the time was confirmed to us three time, someone had written it down incorrectly for half an hour later. When we turned up it was rudely shouted at us ‘you’re too early, sit down and wait’ This we tried to do only to be shouted out again ‘not there that’s booked’ As two of our party are disabled this was totally unacceptable. As I pointed out to the person with the clipboard that they had made a mistake with the booking, no apology was received, she just said ‘well you could always leave and go elsewhere.’ The pub was extremely busy and so is a victim of its own popularity where customer service is neither taught nor given. Food was eventually served to us 1hr 20mins later. Obviously will not return."

"We were heading up the Sandringham campsite and decided to have a Sunday lunch on the way. The Anvil is tucked away on a little country road and offered a Sunday Carvery for £14.50. We did book and were shown to our table. We were collected when they were ready for us so no queuing) and taken to the carvery. There was a good range of meats with beef, lamb, chicken and sausages. Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, cabbage, peas, carrots and cauliflower cheese, with gravy completed the plate. Although the meat was served, there was plenty given and we helped ourselves to the veg. Everything was superb! The meat was tender and the vegetables beautifully cooked. I can honestly say, one of the best carveries I have eaten. Can’t fault it! The pub has a lovely atmosphere and was really busy, which is always a good sign! The staff are very welcoming and friendly. There is a good selection of real ales. Good to know that there is a campsite here which welcomes vans. £15 a night to book in but if you just turn up and park in the car, it is free!"

"We were looked after from the moment we stepped in. Although the lady was busy, she spoke to us every time she passed us, assuring us that she would be with us very soon and she was. She never stopped, but yet served us...and everyone else promptly. When it was quiet later, she stopped to chat a bit which was lovely. The food was magnificent. It was absolutely piping hot and obviously very freshly cooked. The chips were the best traditional ones I can remember. The peppered chicken was perfectly cooked and the homemade sauce was superb. My husband's gammon, egg and chips included pineapple and onion rings and was excellent. The hearty portions would have delighted our foody sons but the last few chips defeated me and neither of us could manage any more. The choice of drinks was perfect for us. I loved the Aspall's cider really fresh and appley. All in all, a delightful evening. Thank you."

"The Black Horse is an absolutely immaculate and beautiful place. A warm and friendly welcome from the owners as soon as we walked in, and complementary biscuits for our canine companion. The food was just exceptional my boyfriend had the battered haddock and chips, which he said was cooked to perfection. With me being a vegan, they were fantastic at accommodating me I had a delicious homemade houmous sandwich with chips and a delicious fresh salad on the side. It's a fantastic setting, dogs are very welcome, and the food is fresh and delicious the perfect pub! Vegetarian options: Great options for vegetarians, just let the staff know if you are vegan. Dietary restrictions: I advised the staff that I was looking for vegan lunch, and they were more than happy to accommodate this."
