"We phoned on a wet Sunday and were lucky enough to get a table for the Sunday Carvery. I was slightly concerned at being asked to pay for the meal before I had even sat at the table, and I also found it odd that we were unable to add drinks to our bill (you have to go to the bar and pay for those separately). We decided to stick with it and I'm very glad we did because the meal itself was superb! A choice of three different meats, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and probably ten different varieties of vegetable gave plenty of choice. My wife had beef and turkey, while I had just beef and without a doubt it was one of the best roast lunches either of us have ever had. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic (the Cauliflower Cheese especially was superb). THOROUGHLY RECOMMENDED and I would go out of my way to eat here again."

Nothing to fault Food delicious. Pie highly recommended Wine was superb Desert out of this world Service excellent. Very clean. Seriously some of the best food we've had. Lovely environment

The Sunday lunch is very good but we went for a meal on Tuesday lunch and I'm can not eat garlic onions or cheese So I at to have a plan baked potato the menu is not good for people like me

Great friendly service in an amazing place with lots of history. Food was lovely, the setting is wonderful, staff went out of their way to welcome us. Absolutely well worth a visit. The rooms looked great too.

Fabulous pub with a superb range of food a bit different to standard pub fare. Beautifully cooked and a place that obviously cared about a positive customer experience. Highly recommended for food. Lovely garden.

Hair in food leaking roof . Rude manager . Tried to contest about the hair, didn’t realise we could hear her. Coat soaking wet by roof leak . Poor staff apologising for service and hair in food, would not recommend.

We were first at the carvery on a Sunday. You could not help yourself and portions served were pretty small without asking for more. The gravy was a packet mix and the overall quality was disappointing for the price to be honest.

We stayed overnight here it is a lovely place. We had dinner that was excellent also breakfast was really good too. The room and bathroom was very nice. Very clean. This is a very old building so there are a few quirky things going on but it adds to the atmosphere. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Fully recommend.

Stayed very close to this pub and visited quite a few times for drinks and food. The pub has a big beer garden and a separate conservatory for eating in, the pub section is quite small but allows dogs and children. The range of drinks is very good and the food selection is quite varied as well with the food being of good quality and the Sunday carvery being very good. The staff are really friendly and if you just want a quiet drink this is the place for you

We booked for Sunday lunch ahead of a large family visit to the area; carvery was outstanding! Garden was perfectly laid out for casual dining as you don’t feel ‘on top’ of each other opportunity for ‘sun or shade’. We went back again on the Fri night… again not disappointed. Menu catered for all tastes everyone delighted. It was obvious we were ‘tourists’ but were welcomed as if locals valued customers. Special mention to the staff; a happy, hard working responsive team that absolutely should be cherished! Thank you
