"Pleasant discovery among the Sassi of Matera, near the Church of San Pietro Caveoso. Friendly and professional welcome. The Della Bruna dish is excellent, broad beans, chicory, caciocavallo and crusco pepper on a slice of bread. I even made the slipper so as not to risk leaving a nice flat one. The Francesca sandwich is very good. The craft beer is very good. Fair account, medium low. To be held in high regard. Well done, keep it up!!!"

The least good place we ate in Matera. Poor quality ingredients and cooked too simply. An example? Gummy bran pepper. The waitress was decidedly unwelcoming and had a brusque manner. Exaggerated prices compared to the type of cuisine and the rest of the offer of the Matesni restaurants. Background music more appropriate to a bad bar in Bogota. Service: Dine in

There are some steps to enter the restaurant. Restaurant was clean with good service and the building itself was very typical of Matera, seems like you have entered a big cave. Ideal for couples and business meeting. The food was genuine and typical southern Italian style (meat balls were very delicious), however, the menu did not include items for children. No pizza or nuggets/burger. Service: Dine in

"I sent the restaurant weeks in advance by e-mail to ask if they could provide two gluten intolerances for my daughter's birthday. They assured me that there are many gluten-free options and so I have booked. We were unavoidably delayed, but I called and left a message on the answer phone. When we arrived, we were greeted after a wait with a welcome cocktail and delicious gluten-free bread and Amuses Bouches. Antipasti and Secondi were delicious, beautifully presented and original. The studio was helpful and gave excellent advice. The waiting staff was overworked, it seemed and the service was perfunctory. Our waiter gave up completely when it came to Desserts, he told us that no dessert was gluten-free (remember it was my daughter's birthday) and Dessert is her favorite course. After a gentle request, the waiter hesitated to use a sgroppino with fennel sorbet. It worked really surprisingly well, but would not have been offered if we had not proposed it. A disappointing end of a magical birthday trip to Matera and being fair, the beginning of dinner promised and was very delicious. We live in Italy and are not tourists. When we heard the American voices around us, we realized that this restaurant tourists especially and quite cynical we suspect that the employees do not need to make too much of an effort, as tourists tend not to return. We will return to Matera this November, but will try many of the other restaurants on offer. Note the restaurant, try to make a little effort when someone contacts you weeks in advance. How can a zabaione not be adapted to someone who needs to eat gluten-free? Le Origini, the beautiful hotel in which we were, was pointed out in advance that we do not eat gluten and baked a fresh pistacchio cake at home, for breakfast gluten-free. This is the way to please your customers and we will stay there in November!"
