"“Who stops wanting to be better, stops being good” stands as a introductory phrase on the first side of the menu. A Credo, to which you have written in the “Piccola Italia” everything seems to be with your body and soul. It fits like no other to the spatial and culinary development of this Ristorante on the outskirts of Landauer. What began in the mid-1980s in the heart of Landau has now become one of the “Italo institutions” in the trade park “Am Messegrund”. The recipe for success even then: delicious pasta, Italian friendliness and an absolutely fair price performance ratio. In the old, centrally located “Piccola” the spaces were still somewhat restricted. However, even at that time, the noodle variations to the lunch table were absolutely good. For a few years now, the two managing directors Giuseppe Baorda (service management and Leonardo Moschetta) have established themselves in the Landauer Lise Meitner Straße with their idea of a “cultural welfare oasis of Italian embossing” and have also developed conceptually. With attached party service, urban chic guest rooms, a paralyzed summer terrace, flashing and well-launched service forces and a still very successful pasta kitchen, the characters are clearly successful here. This is particularly noticeable in the evenings. Without reservation, it becomes difficult to get one of the sought-after places. And inside, the sound level can be turned up, which is likely to make a romantic dinner two more difficult. From my own experience, however, I can say that it can be celebrated here with friends. Lately I return to the “Piccola” (as the Landauer Regionalkulinariker likes to say abbreviatedly, especially on the advanced Friday morning so between 13.30 and 14.30 hrs. For me a perfect transition to the upcoming weekend and also a delicious weekend break, which can also be approached with good colleagues. At this time, the big “Run” is on the lunch menu (the legendary “Pasta Mista” consisting of three different, constantly changing pasta dishes, which are available with drink for unbeatable 7.60 euros, as well as a meat or fish-loaded daily dish, which is just below the 10 euros mark, and the employees are already approving their well-deserved lunch. In my last visits (it was certainly already 3 or 4 this year alone, I always ordered the mixed noodles, often only as “two combination”. There you simply have a little more on the plate from his favourite pastries, if you want to do without the “third pastry”...or can. There are many variations. The “Spaghetti Piemonte” (with mushrooms in cream sauce or the “Fusilli saporiti” (with broccoli and ham in tomato sauce sound just as delicious as they taste. And the hearty “Pasta alla Bolognese” is always available. Your spicy meat sauce makes you realize that you like to cook with wine here. It is nice that this classic is a kind of “fixed term” that enriches every lunch table. At the last Ma(h l there were Rigatoni with eggplants and spicy calabresic salami for the “Bolo portion”. My accompaniment also chose the linguine in potato cream sauce. How to get the noodles “old dente” despite “warm box” is a mystery to me, but it’s hard to deal with such questions when it sounds so delicate. Ordered at the lunch menu at a food counter where the check card is also loaded with the amount to be paid. You will pay this at the checkout in the entrance area. For my green side salad (with olive oil and mild balsamico I received a so-called “Pager” whose unpleasant vibrating ringtone pointed me to the finished preparation. By the way, you get it for all “A la Carte Orders” and for the daily dish. When we meet with friends in the “Piccola” in the evening, the Bruschetta Tradizionale (fits from the name... with tomatoes, rucola and parmesan (5,90 €) is traditionally ordered. I do not share the criticism of my colleague, “Keeshond” regarding the lavish complaint and the disproportionately calculated price. It comes to the products and they taste great – from fine olive oil to spicy parmesan. And you will certainly move at normal level. What, by the way, draws like a red “price of performance thread” through the attractive selection of dishes on the map. On a whole range of appetizers classics, such as Carpaccio from the beef fillet (11,90 € or Vitello tonato (10,90 € ), there is a proper selection of pizzas (with 32 cm in diameter, priced between 7 and 13 euros depending on the coating and paste dressing. The “Linguine ai gamberoni” (12,90 € come on the plate with a well-luged curry cream sauce and are worth their money just as the homemade “Involtini Emiliana” (11,90 €). In addition, there are also some ingenious meat dishes (e.g. the “filetto di maiale piccante”, pork lende on a pikanter sauce with rocket, parmesan and rosemary spices, for € 16.90 on the map. The classic fish plates are even more Mediterranean. Regardless of whether you are enjoying a kilo of grilled gambas with herbs, dips and fresh pizza bread (33.90 € or opting for the grilled wolf barschfilet on Rosmarinrisotto (19.90 €), you get a little more on the pelle in a tasteful way to the sea, and this makes you feel right in summer. An additive monthly card adds the already large selection of dishes from the standard card seasonal. In the month of June, it included swordfish or Lammkoteletts from Grill (19,90 € or 22,90 €, Saltimbocca alla Romana (19,90 , Spargelrisotto (11,90 € and Auberginenauflauf (10,90 €). The service does his job skillfully unattended. With a lot of routine and a proper portion of Italian serenity, this can be done without great hectic. Many regular guests are welcomed and approved by hand. The friendly, insurgent “Small Talk” belongs to the good sound here. In earlier reviews (on a portal, whose formerly good name sounds a bit more like a broken toilet... pointed to the quality of food that has risen over time, so you can also add to the drinks. Cross and across the Italian wine-growing regions can be ordered here glass or flaxwise. Via Apulia, Campania, the Piedmont, the Abbruzzo to South Tyrol, the Italian wine tour leads. With over 10 different open white and red wines, friends of the “vino italiano” come to their expense. The wrong area (0.2 liter is available from € 4.90. The bottle wine prices are in many cases below €20. With a new offer you will get the chance to discover more unknown Palatinate drops under the heading “Winzer of the Month”. From the Oberhausener Weingut Geiger, a dry Grauburgunder and a Chardonnay (both for 4.90 € 0.2 liters completed the well-sorted wine card in June. Finally, it should be mentioned that it is somewhat too bright indoors, which is why I prefer the romantic atmosphere of the terrace in the summer. With the good food quality, the rich range of Italian wines and the tasteful furnishings, I come with my friends and colleagues to the Landauer outskirts again and again to be a little closer to Italy. And the whole thing without any parking stress!"
