"This lovely little pub is situated just east of South Woodham Ferrers in a village called Stow Maries. They have a car park, garden area and covered outside dining areas. Food here is very good and our favourites include fish and chips or beef chilli. Real ale oozes out of this pub with many different types to choose from, not to mention belgian beers, wines and one or two lagers. The coffee is also agreeable. Nearby is the Great War Aerodrome making the Prince of Wales and ideal place to meet before or after a visit there. If you enjoy a drink or two, overnight accommodation is also available. Sometimes there are one or two musicians to entertain you or fireworks etc. When in the pub, unless you are about 1.7M (5.5 feet) tall mind your head, as the low beams hurt when your head hits them!"

Customers are not interested in pictures of bikes or other people; they want to see photos of the food, the menu, and the prices. Obviously!

You can get a good pint of beer or ale from this pub, you can drink inside or out in their garden on a sunny day. They can provide you with some good pub grub if you wish as well all for a very reasonable price.

The food is very good and the staff are friendly. If you want to use the B&B be prepared for noise quite late, they now have pinball machines near the bedrooms. The bed is comfortable and breakfast is great such a shame about the noise.

Excellent food, superb beers, never can guarantee what will be on tap but you can be sure it’s good, Rob and Lynn love the place too. As stated though, old fashioned pub but they do put on some excellent entertainment occasionally.....Highly recommended

This pub is absolutely charming, filled with character and warmth. As a wine drinker, I was delighted to find white Rioja on the wine list at the same price as the other white wines. The menu is excellent, comparable to some high-end dining establishments I've visited but at a much more affordable price. The service is great and the food is beautifully presented. Although I didn't stay at the hotel, I plan to do so in the near future.

We stumbled across this traditional old pub on the main Stow Maries road around 1.45pm, very hungry and keeping our fingers crossed. The aroma of fish chips greeting us as we walked in. We inquired as to how long the wait for food was, as they looked very busy. 'Just the usual wait ' turned out to be about a mere 20 minutes, tops. The fish chips did not disappoint. The chicken goujons were great for the smaller appetite and perfectly cooked, not at all dry, just wonderfully tasty. All in all a little gem of a find. The food was great, the staff friendly, the portions generous. We will definitely be finding our way back there soon!

"We come to Maldon fairly regularly and occasionally stay over. The New Pavilion is was one of our favourite go to restaurants. We arrived at 7:30, as booked, and were very happy to see the front restaurant full except for our table for two. We ordered drinks at the bar and sat at our table. Maybe we should have been more aware of the situation when, after about 15 minutes, we had to tell the staff we were now ready to order. The young waitress was very apologetic and we said it was no problem, not her fault as she was doing two jobs waitressing and covering the bar as the barman had literally disappeared and was occasionally seen serving an old meal. Now we were waiting. 40 minutes? During this time we noticed a number of people shaking their heads at the staff. People walking out after questioning the service and the delay. The poor waitress, we could literally hear her in the back room crying. When our starters came we cancelled our main courses. My wife said my baked Camembert looked like a crème brûlée. I did eat it though and pay for it. I was not going to put the waitress through any more stress. I spoke to the barman as we were leaving and he seemed very surprised that I mentioned the overload of work the waitress was doing covering both jobs. He never said what he was doing during his absence. I did say that as he was obviously not the owner it was probably not his fault as well. All the tables in our corner agreed with what I told the bar manager and we’re about to leave without food. I will be very interested to see the owners reply and any excuse he comes up with. There’s no excuse. Get more staff. Hopefully the waitress has walked across the road to a top restaurant that treat their staff better. She was brilliant and deserved better treatment."
