"it was so good to go back to the parson woodforde today that allyson steve is at the tax. a so beautiful pub, recently reopened and worth a visit. lunch was absolutely excellent, the leber and speck was for dying. After we ate in the drayton old lodge at many occasions, we were thrilled to hear that this amazing couple had taken over this pub and gave us a reliable spot to catch up with friends. I could add that we have to travel there for an hour and half a time, but it is worth it. when the opportunity appears, we will certainly use the beautiful accommodation and then they can enjoy the full monty breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner! a beautiful greeting, especially for our labor, harvey, (ventilated in the bar area), which the experience as much as we enjoyed. thanks to allyson and her personal for such a nice lunch time, we will be back! especially when my favorite shiraz was reminded and produced at my arrival how good this is! I wish them all very best in their new venture."

"Excellent food, choice and customer service. Lovely lunch on Saturday so booked to return for Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. Very tasty food, good size portions and choice. "I went to the Fox on my own (well, with my dog), as a treat to myself, as my other half was playing golf and having his main meal elsewhere. The service was really friendly, wine was lovely, and my meal of chicken in parmsan crust was wonderful. I 'm lucky that I live within staggering distance, so no driving necessary. I 'm not in the habit of going to pubs on my own, but I 've done this in the Fox before and always had a friendly welcome, chatted with other guests and felt completely comfortable. I 'm not sure that I would feel that way in all pubs. The menu seemed more affordable too....I was impressed by the 'smaller appetites ' section, which seemed to include a burger and fries for a great price. Great for a light meal or a children 's meal that is more adult than usual. They do live music regularly, so I 'm intending to go along soon for that."

"We booked, turned up a little early and had to wait a while for someone to seat us. There was one other table occupied so not sure why it took so long. The eclectic style was interesting if a bit chaotic. We sat at an old wooden table with feature chairs but I had to swap mine as it was really uncomfortable and not very well upholstered. We waited quite a while for service for each course, surprising as there was a max of 3 tables occupied at any one time. The food was good. Not exceptional but good quality, tasty, well cooked and presented. My partner's favourite course was his very good steak (locally sourced), mine was the fabulous cheese at the end the cheese itself was very good but all the extras were really interesting and different. The waitress was pleasant but we did feel as if the whole place was running without enthusiasm. No attempt at any personal touch or chat. No rudeness either. But given that so much effort has gone into the decor and fittings being so different and the food and reputation are so good, it felt a bit flat."

"Stopped here for a quick bite in the evening whilst passing through. Limited menu, I had pie and chips. It was hot and tasty so no complaints. I sat at a small corner table and when I went to put my bag on the floor my elbow got caught up in a whole nest of cobwebs that ran floor to ceiling. Moved to a different table and when I looked at the carpet it was glistening with slug slime! Yes you read that right!! Trails and trails of slug slime all over the carpet. I went to put my bag on the chair next to me. The chairs are covered with faded pink felt like fabric that would have been all the rage in the 70s but it was thick with long hairs all trapped in the fabric. The window sills were covered with dead flies. The bar man am I allowed to say man in these politically correct times?? The bar person server was however very friendly, welcoming and polite. Very depressing place, definitely needs a clean and makeover."
