Ratskeller Charlottenburg

The food was excellent, we had a nice jäger schnitzel with french fries and mushroom sauce. The beer Engelenhardt is a nice beer. Service was very good.

On est arrives tard après l'opéra vers 22h. On nous a très aimablement servi. C'était copieux et délicieux. Prix à l'allemande donc bon marché. Grosse et goûteuse bière

Staying in Novotel am Tiergarten this was a good 20 minute walk but worth it. Yes it's a bit dark and dated but the food was good - local German and the beer was very welcome too. Ver carta

Waiter has no idea about the dishes she serves, can not answer to the simplest questions. Food arrived after more than an hour although the place was not crowded. Food average at best.

They have a huge variety of German food and Beer. It's kinda underground so the feeling is quite cozy with all the dark wood and the paintings on the wall. One of my favourite places in Berlin and i live here so I know my city quite well.

The waitress doesn't speak English on a basic level, and couldn't tell me what kind of vegetables a dish contains. She didn't even try to solve the problem to convince me to try that meal. So I didn't. I finally ordered the safe sounding wiener schnitzel and had to wait close to an hour. During this time the waitress never stopped by my table and asked if everything was OK, or never apologized for having to wait so much. The food was fine, but definitely not a dish that was worth waiting for such a long time.

When we arrived we had to ask if they were open are the place was empty. We ordered a drink while we chose our food. The drink arrived and was awful. When we told the waitress about our drink she said "Sorry" and walked away. Not a good start. I ordered goulash soup and my friend ordered potato soup. Both arrived well presented in a bowl made of bread. Unfortunately both soups were not very nice. The goulash was black in colour and too salty. My main was a pepper pot which was a repeat of the goulash but with a hint of pepper. My friend had cordon bleu which came with peas and fries. We thought we'd like to revisit a favourite German dish - a traditional Eisbein - an absolutely delicious slow cooked, pork knuckle.Staying nearby, we went to the local Ratskeller Restaurant, Charlottenburg. I think we found the Fawlty Towers of Germany.When we walked in, we should have realised there was something amiss. There was no one else in the restaurant, bar a family of Asians.The decor and setting of the restaurant was spectacular, and we thought 'how bad could it be'? The waitress was quite pleasant and we ordered our entree to share and then the much awaited Eisbein.
