"The meals (Schnitzel & Spätzle and Schweineschäufle & dumplings) were large in portion and for a reasonable price, served quickly. The taste was good, as expected, but no "ohs and ahs".. The typically German wooden interior and charming atmosphere does it all for you, really! What decreases my rating to a 2 for is the lack of interest and accurate behaviour from the staff, sadly. They are efficient, cutely dressed and all, yes, but STRESSED and they do not really seem interested in making the guests comfortable and happy. And: Half way through our meal one of the waitresses changes my husband's (empty) glass of beer and it accidentally smashes into my 3/4 full glass of beer which falls and breaks into small glass pieces all over; onto our table, my half-eaten dinner and onto the floor and my jeans and shoes. Reaction? No excuse!! The waitresses look at me, with sour faces (as if I was the one making trouble) and just help each other to clean things up and pours me a new 3/4 full glass of beer! No question if I wanted a new meal (how could I be sure there was no glass in my half-eaten meal?) No additional offer of free dessert/coffee or something else to make up for my ruined dinner experience, no discount when we paid.. I'd say: "Nie wieder" as they say in Germany!"

My friends and I went here for dinner while visiting Rothenburg and it was great. The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the city.

Lovely place with friendly staff. A bit withdrawn from the busy market square, which was nice. Food was great, portions large (couldn’t finish) and pricing reasonable. Book a table in advance both for indoor age outdoor seating.

the restaurant is beautiful, feels like a trip back in time. our waitress was excellent and has made great recommendations. we had the pork with mushroom engraving and the pork shoulder. the food was delicious and the portions were very generous. recommend

We had a very enjoyable meal here. We had salmon, roasted pork shoulder, steak, deer pot roast. All were very good. Roasted Pork shoulder could have been a little more tender but still was better than average. Dessert was all good. Waitress warmed up to us after a while but they are very business like. Probably get tired of tourist but who can blame them. Would definitely go back.
