"If you are looking for a friendly place, that will serve you until close with a smile, then this is for you. If you have never had authentic japanese food than this is for you. If you are unwilling to wait while one chef prepares food for an entire room, like some tap water with your meal, like fresh rather than frozen fish, like sashimi or are looking for sushi with protein and rice, rather than a rice ball with a hat, then don't come here! La Gambatte is advertising itself as a all-you-can eat japanese buffet for 38 francs. In my opinion you would be better off going to the chain shop and getting a couple trays. The menu is huge with nigiri (8 types , no shashimi/hand rolls, some maki (4 small rolls , and about 8 types of fusion rolls, then some teppanyaki, gyoza, salad, soups and bunch of asian dishes like egg rolls and deep fried whatever.. We started with an order of miso soup which was watery and not good. The edamame were great! The plate of 8 assorted nigiri was beyond dissapointing; giant rice balls with very very little (mostly cheap fish . It was like they were wearing a hat. The squid nigiri was so clearly defrosted and tasted like frozen water. The rolls were also unappealing, the tuna rolls had (red tuna that was brown, which is usually what happens once its passed its price (i have even defrosted frozen tuna steak and its redder than this. Everything came with mayo which they would not remove if you didn't have an allergy. Nothing had any taste and we went through a bottle of soy sauce. We asked for water and all we could get was an overpriced bottle of flat water for 5.50 chf. The ginger was so spare it wasn't enough for one person let alone three. Also, the wasabi, was a dab from one of those low-cost grocery store tubes, you could tell by the nozzle pattern as it was squirted out. Finally, they had one chef working on a room that seated 50. It was the most uneventful and dissapointing food experience I have had in a long time. However, if you want deep fried prawns, you will love this place."
