"I’ve been coming to this restaurant now for well over a decade and it’s still my one and only reason for visiting Halifax. The food is always top quality, portions are generous and really good value for money. But more than that is the experience Pajaree herself provides. Always warm and friendly, cares for her customers and never forgets you. Her partner Philip is lovely too and always great to have a catch up with. We had mixed starters, a main each, egg fired rice and a pork omelette all washed down with a lovely bottle of Shiraz and the whole lot cost less than £55. "We ate here twice. Well, almost. Our first visit was an extraordinary culinary experience, from welcome, to food, to service. We had the chicken liver parfait with Pedro Ximenez, hazelnut, and toasted brioche which was a symphony of flavours, a luxurious start to an unforgettable meal. Tasted out of this world! The 10oz salt-aged sirloin steak was cooked to perfection, offering a juicy and robust taste that satisfied every carnivorous craving. The pork loin, accompanied by BBQ courgette, basil, crackling, and an apple vinegar sauce, was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that left me in awe. The sausage and courgette roll added a delightful twist to the dish. The black truffle cauliflower cheese was a decadent side, elevating a classic comfort food to new heights. And for dessert, the banana panna cotta with miso, caramel, and peanut was a creative masterpiece, ending the meal on a sweet note. Shibden Mill Inn truly delivered an exquisite dining experience, with each dish showcasing the chef's culinary artistry. It's a place where food becomes an unforgettable adventure for the senses. Sadly, after being so excited to visit a second time, we were let down by extraordinarily slow and almost uninterested service so we had our starter, a drink and left. Apart from that, the Michelin star food alone is well worth a visit!"

"Me and my wife popped in for a drink after shopping and realised that Millers had recently been taken over. You can tell the new owners have put some money into the decor and even had a live singer on which was a nice change from before. We had a look at the menu which was small compared to the previous but sounded nice. Unfortunately, from there is where the evening turned sour. I went to the bar to order some food and was left standing waiting to be served for around 10 minutes with staff just ignoring me. I would like to mention I was the only person stood at the bar and three members of staff were there but no acknowledgement. Not even we will just be a minute which I felt was rude. I do understand that they did have large Christmas parties in and most likely were understaffed but still just that they would be a minute would of been nice alternatively hire more staff for busy days before taking bookings. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait for food, which was understandable. It was actually 60 minutes, and when the food arrived, we had to help ourself to napkins and cutlery as we were left. The burger was nice, but the Chicken kebab was cold, and the flatbread was raw, not just a little but really raw. We sent the flatbread back and waited another 5 minutes for a fresh flatbread which again came to the table raw in the middle. The menu also stated Tzatziki but came with Hummus which wasn't pleasant to eat. Overall it was disappointing, I think they need to start thinking of hiring more staff on busy days of the week especially with Christmas around the corner. We both said we won't be returning again for food which is a shame since Millers has always been known for their great customer service and good food."

"Must have been stuck in traffic next to this for long enough for Google to think I'd been in for a bite to eat! It was actually over a year ago we visited here, as a group, we were really well looked after and everyone's order was spot on with no issues (there were 18ish of us so that is not always a given). Really nice atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful, available without hovering. I had a Calzone, was cooked perfectly, the filling was nice but found it a little on the bland side overall. Was reasonably well priced if you compare prices to current takeaway restaurant prices where the quality is far inferior. Keep looking for an opportunity to go back."

"So after booking in for the steak night last Thursday we turned up to the sun inn, where we was greeted by a waitress asking if we had a booking which we confirmed we had. She then went off to get the chef/owner. This is when the experience goes downhill. “I’m sorry we have no steaks” was all he could say. When asked how that was made possible as surely you buy the amount of steaks plus 2/3 to cover the bookings you get he answered that he just couldn’t turn down the business, but he already had the business as we had booked for this? I’m fine with mistakes being made as it happens but this guy was just extremely rude, I even said why don’t you do any 2 mains and a bottle of wine for the same price. “No sorry I can’t do that” to be honest it shouldn’t be me suggesting ideas for an owner to make it up to a customer after making a mistake but this guy wasn’t bothered in the slightest. I never leave bad reviews but when you get left at 8pm with not many other places with spare tables it just didn’t sit right. Simply don’t book in to this place as he might not be able to turn down the business if someone else comes before you"
