"People like to go to San Giorgio. It is cozy, friendly and is in the middle of a very trendy neighborhood in Berlin But that is where the pleasure stops. Our of the reportedly Italian restuarants in Berlin, only a handful of them serve...really good, home cooked food with imangative menus. The rest offer the standard fare of overcooked pasta with toppings one never encounters in Italy or frozen mixed seafood from a bag. Unfortunately, despite its charm, San Giogio is in this category. At a recent lunch with friends we ordered varioius dishes from seafood pasta to liver to rice with artichokes. The seafood was classic plastic bag fare. The liver was tough and tasteless and the rice was burned a dark color with little flavor. Same held true for the starters and the wine. As some of the comments with the SanGiogio page demonstrate, German diners love Italy and italian food so much that they will excuse almost any insult from the kitchen. But the rest of us want taste, quality and imagination. San Giorgio offers none of these. Find something else."

For a high class dinner or just a simple lunch: San Giorgio is always at its best. Great service (no surprise: the owner is ALWAYS there himself) and just perfect, fresh food ... as you were in Italy !

I was here a few times and just have to say: The service is fantastic attentive but not overwhelming. The food is delicious pasta right texture, dessert to die for (plus complimentary appetizers, old-style, very nice) The wine selection is great. The atmosphere...is cozy and they really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. I highly recommend this place.

We visit for a family anniversary and chose the restaurant because of reviews. That was a mistake. Food was average, nothing special. Presentation was below average and the portions were to small for pricing. There were only three tables to be waited on but our...glasses were constantly empty. We ordered some more soda and they forgot. I can see that in a overcrowded place but three tables come on. Overall it was a poor performance.

It was the second time I went to this lovely Italian restaurant . It is a true family business where the family actually all work and make a very good atmosphere . They have recently renovated the locale and it is light and very friendly.... The food is excellent, nothing fancy , just plain nice food ! They have a good wine list and the staf is very helpful in choosing the matching wine to what you have ordered. The service is impeccable . They are there when you need them and otherwise leave you alone . An Italian jewel in Berlin. Highly commendable !

We love Italian cuisine, saying that we are very picky and very often we find that what we cook ourselves at home is miles better. This was not the case. It was our last night in Berlin and our friend who lives in the...neighbourhood suggested this place, as one of his close friend's parents are regulars here and love it very much. Every single dish was phenomenally good and exquisite. They truly made the ingredients shine..! As for tagliatelle con tartufo it was such a winner, that despite us being quite full we went for another serving that of us shared. Whenever we go to Berlin again I look forward to returning to San Giorgio! Grazie mille for great memories!

We had the pleasure of visiting Ristorante San Giorgio as part of our family vacation in Berlin. The place was recommended by the Hampton Inn staff. The service by the Son of the Chef (both owners) and our waitress was impeccable! From the suggestion down...to understanding our special kids needs and Year Old). We started off with a Tomato Bruschetta (on the house) that boded well with the house wines, both not the kind you'd expect out of house wines, but from top class full bottles. The Kids Pasta dishes with side sauces was simply to die for, and my wife and I ended up digging in as well. The fish was made to perfection and fillet in front of our table. The Steak was one of the best I had...

they start you with an olive bowl, crusty bread and a small cold, but fresh pizza like item with tomato sauce on it(i ate all of this, very good). White and Red wines reasonably offered in similar way as Italy, by and full...carafe and by the bottle. I had the special past which was Artichoke hearts over spaghetti and it was great. For main course I had calf cheeks(tender and served in a wonderful osso bucco type deep dense flavor gravy-great with red wine which were served with vegetable and rosemary roasted potatoes that were crisp on out side, full of flavor I haven't tasted in a potato since Tuscany. I was there at approx. PM , so restaurant empty so was greeted very nicely by owner and...
