"Great pub right by the seafront. A group of 8 of us stopped at the ocean inn for lunch during our bike ride. One of the riders had come off his bike and had a nasty cut to his arm. Fortunately a member of staff at the pub (Mandy) is a trained first aider and did a fantastic job of patching him up. Thanks again Mandy. We all then had lunch. The food was excellent and served quickly and efficiently. The Doombar was perfect too! Well done to all the staff. We’ll definitely be back next time we are down your way."

"My boyfriend and I came across this place at the end of a long cycling trip, looking for somewhere that we could take our bikes into. It was such a hugely enjoyable experience that we didn’t expect looking at the cafe from the outside. Firstly the outdoor space at the back is so lovely and serene on a sunny day, the food is such wholesome and great quality that is enjoyable regardless of whether you eat meat or not and the smoothie tasted exceptional and such a bargain given that it feeds about 3 people. But what really made the experience so great for us is the owner who runs the place solo. He was such an interesting person and came out and chatted to us for ages whilst being incredibly attentive. It was like being at someone’s home for dinner."

"Goes without saying it’s a lovely hotel. What else would you expect? However, what struck me the most was the absolutely fantastic staff. Every single person I encountered from the contractor who lent me his zippo, the bartender who pre batched my **** Mary for the next morning, the patient night porter who brought out a little birthday cake, the sympathetic waitress who nursed me through my crippling hangover. They’re just a **** lovely bunch, who clearly love their jobs, and their happiness is contagious. The place is gorgeous but I’d stay in a pop up tent in Siberia if those lot were running the show. We love to see it. Bonus factoid: I was curled up on the sofa asleep on my fur coat in daytime sequins with a stick of celery in my mouth when Olga randomly walked in and it was a bit like **** himself waltzing into church. She was very friendly, and didn’t make me feel judged despite the obvious state I was in. But I feel a deep, visceral shame that will probably haunt me for years."

"Absolutely lovely meal. Obviously it is very busy with the time of year but we were lucky and turned up just as they had a table free. A lovely young lady just said can we wait a couple of minutes for her to clean it and set up for us which I really liked. Food was lovely and very good value. I wish I'd had room for the lovely cakes on display. I plan on visiting again for the vienesse whirls. It was only on the way home I realised I forgot to tip. I will tip double in future as the staff are a credit"

"Such amazing bar staff. I dropped in here on a whim with my 11 week old baby in a sling because I was walking past and the roasts look great. I was told that there were no tables inside (everything booked up) and decided to sit outside. It was a really hot, muggy day, so after a while a more senior member of staff (possibly the landlady) spotted me there and asked if I'd prefer to sit inside and she could make space for me. She took me to a separate area of the pub, settled me on a sofa and then brought me an electric tower fan to cool me down! It was SO welcome. When she spotted my baby was awake she brought over some cushions so he could sit propped up while I cut up my food. The roast was excellent, too!"
