"This restaurant is about 100m down the hill from our Pension. We walked in an were greeted by a waitress in traditional dress. We were shown to our tables and when they realised we were English gave us a comprehensive menu in English (not the complete menu though). We were given a salad starter accompanied with bread and herb butter. Which was a bonus as we only ordered a main course. We both chose a Venison main dish both were delicious. My venison was served in a rich gravy with spätzle and cranberry sauce. My husband had venison with potato hazelnut dumplings in a sauce. Hubby had house red and I had a medium sweet white. Both were good quality. Nice atmosphere. Good was well presented and full of taste. We shared a dessert of walnut ice cream in a liqueur which finished the meal off a treat. With tip the meal came to €70 which we thought was reasonable for this quality of dining. A very enjoyable meal. Would recommend this restaurant."

"After we couldn't get anything to eat after 2 p.m. on a rainy Saturday, we happened to pass the charcoal burner. Our mood was at its lowest because of hunger. That changed suddenly with the starter. The porcini mushroom risotto and the porcini mushroom soup were incredibly tasty. The main courses topped it all. Thanks to the entire team, you saved our last day of vacation Food drinks: it was so delicious. The kitchen team deserves an extra star."

"In short the best dinner we had in the black forest and if I come back to the area I would make a detour to eat here again. We were sent there for dinner by our guest house, and found the small charming place full, even on a Tuesday evening after a holiday. We did not expect to find such great food and atmosphere in a small sleepy town. The barkeep/waiter (and probably owner was extremely friendly and funny, speaking good English and recommending local dishes, often going around the room and laughing with tables. He even explained the difference between different Schnapps and how to drink it (aperitif vs. digestif depending on where in Germany you come from . The pork Fillet was the best we had in Germany, wonderfully soft and chewy. The place offers many wonderful dishes and we would definitely come back to try some more, even those the waiter suggested were too rough for tourists (like the sausage salad, which I would definitely try next time just for spite : Arrive early, as the place is small (6 7 tables and when we arrived at around 20:15 some dishes have already run out, though they did not expect so many people that night apparently."

"El personal aquí es amable y hace un buen trabajo considerando lo ocupado que está este lugar. El menú es demasiado grande para permitir que se cocine cualquier cosa fresca desde cero, lo cual es una pena, ya que con un menú más manejable, la comida ... Comí una lasaña, barata a unos euros, y estaba abundante pero obviamente precocida y recién calentada. El escalope de cerdo estaba horrible, vino como un trozo de cerdo de aproximadamente una pulgada de grosor, sin ablandamiento ni aplanamiento, ¡una parodia! Las pizzas se veían bien, al menos podías verlas hechas a mano en la cocina, y si tienes una familia que alimentar, este lugar se ajusta a tus necesidades, pero no esperes nada más de lo que podrías cocinar en el microondas."

"The Hotel is a small family run hotel where my wife and spent 10 lovely nights with half board for less than £100 per night for the two of us. The food (4 courses every evening, Filet of steak on the Sunday) ) and accommodation were absolutely excellent. The whole ambience of the hotel and friendliness of the staff made it a most memorable stay. On our arrival we were issued with a very detailed map of the area and our 'Gastcards'. The Gastcard entitles the holder to free travel on all of the trains and buses in the area, including the trams and buses in Freilburg. The railway station at Altgaslussen was only a 5 minute walk from the hotel where trains ran to and from Freiburg every hour. The area itself is superb If you like walking"
