"Normally you need to book, but we took a chance and called in to eat. The chef decided that we could be fitted it and instead of bringing a menu we had a discussion about the fish that he had available and the sauces that he could create. We ended up with monkfish in a cream and garlic sauce after a starter, in my case, of mackerel. We sat in the bay window looking out at the sun going down over the loch and the bay, with the cliffs of Foula in the far distance. The bar also served an excellent pint of Lerwick Brewery Shetland pale, one of only three bars in the Islands with cask beer that we discovered. It's possible that I have had better food and beer and seen a better view, but I can't bring them to mind at the moment. Put them all together in the same place at the same time, and I reckon that it is about as good as it ever gets. Go there (but remember to book! ."

Don't miss out on this charming restaurant! We enjoyed delicious food served with a smile and stunning views of the cliffs and sea. However, the owner will be selling the hotel in mid-October, so make sure to visit soon!

We rented the 3-room cottage for a party of five and found it to be a wonderful accommodation. The kitchen and washing machine were perfect for our needs. We highly recommend other visitors to Shetland to consider staying at this fantastic hotel!

My wife and I ate an early supper here after a long day touring sites in South Mainland which ended up at St. Ninian's Isle. We were seated at a table with a view to the west. I had the shepherd's pie, which was made with lamb (as the name implies) rather than beef as in the US, and was made without corn. It was tasty and filling. Be sure to drink the local beers! Just back from our second visit to Shetlands and once again we enjoyed the hospitality and warmth of Spiggie. Well placed to enjoy all the Islands have to offer with straightforward and comfortable (albeit slightly dated )accommodation. Great food and super scenery Special thanks to Marti and the rest of the crew who put up with us all changing or forgetting our orders.

I stayed here for four nights as part of a Shetlands Wildlife tour group. The hotel owner, Keith, turned out to be a fabulous cook. Breakfasts were extensive and delicious. There was a generous choice on the dinner menu; the food was often locally sourced and always expertly cooked. Good locally brewed beers too. The staff could not have been more friendly. Highly recommended!

We visited Spiggie Hotel to have a bar lunch and found the staff and owner Keith to be very friendly and helpful. The menu had a large variety of local produce which was very well cooked and presented. The portions were very generous for a lunch menu. Lovely lunch! The bar is very small with leather sofas offering a comfortable, warm and friendly atmosphere. We would definitely first Spiggie Hotel again. Ver carta

Our lunch at the Spiggie Hotel was absolutely fantastic. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was fresh, locally sourced, and delicious. We began by enjoying a drink in the cozy bar area before moving to the restaurant for our meal. Our table had an incredible view overlooking the loch and ocean. Despite being a small establishment, it was not crowded during our visit, with only one other group dining on a Sunday afternoon. This experience was definitely a highlight of our two-week journey around the British Isles. I highly recommend it.

This is a lovely spot, overlooking Spiggie Loch, near the coast, Foula in the distance on a good day. The restaurant has the views, but the bar is cosier and you can eat the same food in it. The main courses are beautifully cooked, with some unusual ones like Moroccan stew along with the staples like haddock and chips. Some things do take a while to come, but they'll warn you about that and it's a good place to relax. I'd give it a 5, were it not that, as usual in Shetland, the dessert menu is full of stodgy puddings, including the ubiquitous and sooo outmoded sticky toffee pudding, which every restaurant in Scotland seems to feel obliged to offer. I suppose it might make sense in iwnter but...

"We had a meal last Friday at the steak house in town, and didn’t have a good experience. I left a detailed review on their Facebook page to warn others about it and it appears it’s gone! Can’t see how that’s fair as it was...a fair warning to anyone going. Makes me wonder how many bad reviews have been removed. Would give a lot fairer outlook and how overpriced and unprofessional they are! This wouldn’t be as bad if it hadn’t cost so much, as I’d happily pay for a brilliant meal, but the fact this is a steak house with high prices, you expect a certain standard. In brief, Aimees steak was well over cooked, so told the waiter, who comes back and claims the steak continues to cook after it’s been rested!!! Hillarious that the chef thought that was true, being a steak house they need to be nailing every steak perfect especially at their prices! So anyway, told the waiter that wasn’t the case and I’m well experienced in cooking steak, but he claimed that was still the fact. And instead of discounting our meal for aimees half eaten steak, they offered a free drink! Also the seafood we had with it was over cooked and dry, muscled were terrible, as was the langoustines, and tasteless. Didn’t get any recompense for that. My meal was fine, I had a ribeye and was cooked bang on, maybe ribeyes don’t cook themselves after they’ve been rested And as for charging each for their sides, on top of their expensive meal, bit of a **** take! And one of Aimees gins was advertised contained ginger fever tree and was to cost but they added the mixer on top of the And then on our way out, after I grudgingly paid for the meal (which wouldn’t be that bad if it was a nice dining experience), a member of the kitchen staff looked Aimee up and down in disgust, obviously annoyed at HER for HIM doing a poor job of cooking the food. We will never be back and if they’re deleting reviews, they could be a lot worse as just this experience. Edit: I’d like to point out I put this review on the page to warn others and also allow the business to take some criticism, the customer is always right and all that. Removing the review has just annoyed me, that’s why I’ve made this post."
