"We decided to pop I to try the new lunch menu as we were told the chef has changed. The vegan option felt disappointing, unfortunately. The non- vegan sourdough toast/bagel options come with eggs. The vegan option is simply vegetables on toast. Although it tasted fine, there was nothing replacing the egg's protein and fat. Therefore, I was pretty hungry shortly after leaving. When one pays £10 for lunch, it is frustrating to leave hungry. It would help to have some source of protein and fat added to the meal, e.g.: Tofu; hummus; beans; lentils; pesto; nuts. The butternut squash was also lacking in flavour, sadly. It would really help to have some extra herbs and spices added. I would love to come back and try again for lunch when the vegan menu sounds more filling and more flavoursome. I also feel that the lunch options are slightly too expensive for what we were given. My family members tried two non- vegan options and enjoyed the food but also agreed it was a little too dear. I think for £10 many other places would offer a small side of crisps, chips, or salad, which would help soften the blow of an expensive lunch out."

The food was delicious, especially the sausage brioche bun. Staff were really friendly and even got to meet the chef who was really lovely. Might have to be our regular Friday lunch haunt!

We had a lovely meal and a nice warm here. After walking around the shops and feeling that Leek is perhaps a bit sorry, we knew that we would have a warm welcome at Spout having visited in the summer. The food was great and...

Lovely. Great intimate corner for us to kick back and catch up with relaxed service. Great drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic so everyone happy. Ordered a mix of cheese platter olives, chips and focaccia. All delicious. A lovely evening.

One of my favourite places both for coffee and cake and an evening meal! Their outstanding food is a delight and the wonderful staff to all they can to make your visit special. My most recent discovery was a carrot cake ball covered in chocolate, wow.

Scrambling to find lunch on a Friday afternoon with just half an hour’s parking we found SPOUT in Leek. What a place! Food was excellent, and served incredibly quickly. Coffee great too. We loved the ambience and mix of stylish retro furniture too. We had...

We have passed by Spout countless times and always talked about stopping in, and now we regret not doing so sooner. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome upon entering, setting the tone for a great dining experience. The food, coffee, and overall atmosphere exceeded our expectations.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant, despite being a local. The atmosphere was pleasant, but the interior was not very cozy. My daughter ordered the "big BERT" and found the bacon to be extremely overcooked and dry, making it difficult to cut. (She used to work as a waitress and is too polite to...)

My wife and I have dined at this restaurant many times and we always receive a warm welcome from the owners and staff. They are all wonderful. There is a great variety of beers and wines to choose from, catering for everyone's tastes. The food is consistently delicious, reasonably priced and the portions are generous. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. We adore the unique interior design and laid-back atmosphere. What's not to love..!

"Our room faced the front of the hotel, and while the village was quiet with only two pubs and a small corner store, it seemed to be a shortcut for heavy vehicles speeding downhill at night, with headlights constantly illuminating our room. We also found out that the hotel closes in the evening if it's not busy, and the front door may be locked as early as 10 PM, requiring a code for re-entry. The internet service was poor; even standing just outside the front door, I had no reception and couldn't call the emergency numbers posted there. It appears that the quality of the rooms varies significantly, with some having been upgraded while others are less desirable, including our own. When we questioned our bill because we didn't think the room was worth £140, we were told that since we had booked through Charming Escapes, we should take it up with them, as the hotel receives only a fraction of what we paid. This made us feel like second-class guests, especially since it seemed we were stuck in a low-quality room. The standard rate for a double room is £90, and if I were to rate our experience like on the TV show "Four in a Bed," I would say £50 a night would have been generous. Previous reviews also mentioned an issue with the door handle and the ability to lock the room, which had not been fixed. If you’re just looking for a place to dry off your hiking boots, this hotel might suffice, but I wouldn't recommend staying here again. It has a lot of potential, and thankfully, we had a wonderful evening at The Devonshire Arms just across the street—it felt like a whole different experience. It seems the staff at Charles Cotton have simply given up."
