Wonderful food, very friendly staff. Convenient for the town centre. Menu very extensive, loved it. Seemed very popular with locals and tourists.

Delicious food, friendly service and reasonable prices. It does get busy - speaks for the quality. I would recommend the series of dishes cooked on sizzling iron plates.

Free poppadoms, rice and naan included with every main dish. Curries are flavoursome and rich tasting. Meat is good quality. Service was friendly and quick considering there were only three waiting staff working in a full restaurant. Not quite enough rice given for four people to share, and the second order of rice did not arrive. Ver carta

unfortunately we cannot recommend the taj mahal. how kindly welcomed and the service knew immediately which of vegetarian dishes can be veganized. allergens are displayed. unfortunately the appetizer was not edible (too fat and no fresh ingredients), the main course was not better. the tables were dirty and I got a dirty teller and no excuse for it. God!

We arrived at 9pm on a Sunday and they were about to close, but we could still order, which was a relief. We enjoyed our curries a lot; my girlfriend had a mango chicken curry and I had a 'taj mahal' curry that was pretty spicy, but good to combine with beer. Friendy service, good price; I can recommend this place to anyone that wants something different than the traditional german cuisine.

I love Indian cuisine and I must say this restaurant offers a great variety of Indian specialties, some of them even not so common.Food presentation is nice, service is gentle and accurate.Having read that Indian food in Germany tends to be rather bland I was very impressed with the food I tried at this restaurant. The lamb curry I had was well spiced and very flavorful and the meat was tender and well cooked. The naan, lassi and rice I tried were also very good. Sorry but this incredibly popular restaurant obviously gave me their worst ever portion of lamb in their house speciality dish (Rogan Murghail?). Tiny pellets of hard lamb in an otherwise delicious sauce was difficult to take. Having waited for more than an hour for the dish, I was not going to complain, apart from which I was in company. The place was packed full and had two servers only for 60-80 people. Crazy economics as the kitchen was also obviously not coping. We waited more than 10 minutes before we got served and a further 10 until the drinks arrived.

Taj Mahal is the best Indian restaurant in Trier like the Porta Nigra is the best Roman sight. It pales in comparison with the real thing. Let me explain. Porta Nigra is impressive for Trier. Anyone who had ever been to Rome would realize that it is extremely lame compared to Rome and it's sights.The same for this restaurant. The food is Ok, nothing really bad for German standards. But compared to food in India it is a disgrace. It is bland, salty and adjusted for German taste. It is sad, really. The shrimp dish for €18 is way overpriced. We tried to find a table at Taj Mahal for dinner one evening but the place was packed, so we returned the next day for a late lunch, on our way back from the close-by Imperial Thermae. Despite the fact that the restaurant was only half full this time, we had to wait quite some time before we were brought a menu or were even asked if we wanted to order drinks. The waiter simply ignored us and kept clearing tables. As a starter, we shared vegetable pakoras, which were nice. As mains we had chicken tikka masala and lamb with bell peppers and tomato sauce (Gosht Jalferezi), both served with rice and nan.
