"If you are anywhere near Pontefract and you fancy a nice coffee and something to eat then you won't go far wrong by visiting DJs Café at Maud's Yard, (off Market Place), Pontefract, WF8 1AQ Tel. 07947 395981. I was actually on a journey to Durham and decided to break the journey at Pontefract. Having never been there before I was delighted to find a warm welcome at DJs Café and delicious cheese and ham sourdough toasties. Hannah, who runs the business, is very professional and friendly. I could see there were several regulars who were enjoying their drinks and eats. I think the opening hours are Tuesdays 9am to 12.30pm. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9am to 3pm. Saturday 8am to 3pm. Closed Mondays and Sundays. The toasties were the very best and kept us going for several hours. The bakewell cake I took away was absolutely delicious and so fresh that even though I didn't eat it until 32 hours later it was still very fresh. Pontefract is definitely worth a visit if you are nearby. There is a great indoor market with a good variety of wares on sale. Parking is available at Morrison's supermarket, Stuart Road, WF8 1BT and it is only a short walk to the market place and Maud's Yard where you will find DJs Café. Thank you to the bakers and Hannah. To have a nice breakfast including coffee for two at under £17.00 is very good value and so fresh Thank you."

"This was my 5th takeaway from here and I love the food, quality and price. However, I placed my order at 6.20 to arrive at 7.30 and it didn’t arrive until nearly 8pm. The food was quite cold and seems smaller portions than last time. However it was still enjoyable and I will return. The man we spoke to on the phone was very loud and angry when we asked if our order was ready. Easily aggravated."

"I called ahead to inquire about their gluten-free options and was assured they could accommodate. However, upon arriving, I discovered a very limited menu with cold food and scarce amounts of meat in the dishes. The experience did not meet my expectations and I do not plan on returning. The service was average, with the meal being a dinner service that cost between £30-40 per person. Overall, the atmosphere was lackluster, earning a rating of 1 out of 5."

"The harvester has ruined Christmas 2023. We were positioned right outside a toilet and had everyone brushing past us while trying to eat. We were also next to a large family that let their children run SEMI NAKED around the table. The heating was off and it was freezing. The starters were cold soup or frozen microwaved brie. Mains consisted of cold veg which is quite impressive considering they had been overcooked to the point they were practically mush, paired with meat which had the consistency of leather soaked in brown water that was supposedly gravy Puddings were a choice of the smallest peice of Christmas cake soaked in lumpy custard or 3 profiteroles. Credit where its due, the floor staff were exceptional. Only to be let down by the manager, Neil prior, with his fake accent, who apparently couldn't process a refund despite claiming to be the owner. I have had to leave without any form of refund only an email. I have never heard such rubbish of a manager unable to process a refund. I will never visit this establishment again and would urge others not to. £280 to ruin Christmas. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS IN RESPONSE TO NEILS REPLY 26/12: The room was freezing, even staff commented that the heating was off and should've been on. We saw many surrounding tables with full plates being collected by staff. I understand that it is Neil's responsibility to protect the business' reputation but lying is not the way to do it. Still waiting on a refund and will update as this continues UPDATE 27/12 After raising a formal complaint with harvester, I received an email yesterday evening advising I'd be called by an area manager today this has not happened and harvester continue to spoil the holidays and I've also noticed the few false reviews that have popped up since this review Update 28/12 Spoke to Jennifer who processed my refund and was absolutely lovely, when I went to collect it though I could see neil skulking about in the background still looking scruffy. Overall I still rate it a 1 star experience based on the food but I will say that apart from Neil, the staff at the winding wheel castleford are all brilliant EDIT 28/12 Just received a threatening phone call from Neil on my personal mobile. "This place is a hidden gem in Castleford. If you're fed up of big brand coffee houses, pretentious independent coffee shops and greasy spoons (or if you love these but want to try something different) Bake My Day is the place to go. All their cakes look so lovingly made and decorated (their Instagram always makes me hungry), they also taste amazing too! Their coffee is beautiful, as well as having an extensive menu of other drinks. Their lunch menu is never a let down. When ever I have been their menu and cakes always caters for those who are meat eaters, veggie, vegan and gluten free. The staff are friendly and amazing at what they do."
